  • Emily McClain: Antigone's Sister

Beautifully crafted and so haunting- the descriptive language and theatrical elements ignite my "director brain" in a way that hasn't happened in a long time! Goldman-Sherman has a gift for translating raw, painful emotion into truly active text. These characters have a heightened musicality to their language, but it feels contemporary at the same time. Thank you for this gorgeous story!

  • Emily McClain: A TOUR of The Early 21st Century Reproductive System (The Way We Used to Have Babies) & Real Live Birth Experience!

Equally hilarious and deeply disturbing, this amazing monologue takes us along with Docent Donna on a tour of the outmoded equipment of the "old way" we used to reproduce! The concept is so original and the potential for an immersive theatrical experience is built into every word of the piece. The final moments of the monologue are gripping and emotionally raw. Brilliant work!

  • Emily McClain: Imperfect Storms

When you're going through the most painful moment in your personal life, the world ending seems like an annoying slight to make your already bad day even worse. The use of the environment to echo the turmoil of the two characters as they make the heartbreaking decisions they must make creates a fantastical moment that we're lucky enough to witness (before everything completely falls apart!). Despite the magical elements, Sickles never lets us forget that this story is about these two people (well, person and magical being...) and their connection. Simply beautiful.

  • Emily McClain: Lang

One of my favorite playwrights tackling one of my favorite genres?!? SIGN ME UP.
Cathro's take on Fritz Lang's story is completely compelling and the tension between Lang and his wife Thea sizzles off the page. Rich and meaty roles for both performers and the unfolding of the moral dilemma of the piece is handled so well. You feel voyeuristic discomfort at being a witness to such an intimate moment between these two people-- but you will not look away. Such fantastic work!

  • Emily McClain: Admission Impossible

The best kind of satire walks the razor's edge of "totally ridiculous and yet......" and Admission Impossible does just that. Moran created a situation that is not just plausible, but darkly hilarous in its accuracy. This would be an awesome addition to a 10 minute play festival!

  • Emily McClain: One Fish Two Fish

Baby showers are the absolute worst, but connecting with someone who also hates baby showers can make the experience less painful. Dellagiarino's fast-paced dialogue would be a riot for performers and audiences alike, and watching these two characters come to an understanding is a fantastic journey. Funny and frivolous- well done!

  • Emily McClain: Miracle on Nevada State Route 375 [a 1-minute play]

This play is a fabulous reminder that reconnection is possible if we're willing to be vulnerable and let our guard down for a moment-- Martin prods us to redefine "miracle" in one short minute.

  • Emily McClain: The Brief Lifespan of a Butterfly (Monologue)

This is such an amazing piece for performance- Caroline's emotional journey and her realization that the direction her life has taken is incredibly powerful! Lamedman does a fantastic job pacing this piece and building to a really satisfying climax. Beautiful work!

  • Emily McClain: Moments Away

There is a lot of power and emotion packed into this one minute play. There's a beautiful connection between the characters even in the brief time and we're left thinking who our own "final connection" would be given similar circumstances.

  • Emily McClain: Bandera, Texas

Told with Feriend's brilliant ear for dialogue and sense of humor, Liz's adjustment to her new living situation and the impending changes that press down on her life from all sides is so incredibly relatable. Both grandmothers bring their unique perspectives to her to help make sense of things and the reality of being a woman, a wife, a mother- now or in generations past- is brought to life for us. This play deserves all the accolades and many, many productions!
