Weaver gets better and better play after play - a master weaver of comedy plays! Where I thought this was going, it goes somewhere totally expected - and then he goes an entirely different direction. I would love to be in the room when this is rehearsed and even better when it's produced! If you're not reading Weaver's plays, you're missing out! His plays do the opposite of what most plays do --depress us, make us ruminate on what is awful about the world. His plays can enlarge the heart, make you smile, enjoy being alive.

A powerful play that I think could encourage young audience members facing similar situation - parents divorcing, moving away to a strange city, long distance relationship with a parent - to open up, to heal, to change. It's about much more than I described. A large cast play with PLENTY OF ROLES FOR WOMEN, perfect for middle schools and high schools - ready for production - check it out! You will marvel at the structuring of the story, the emotional intensity, the theatricality, the honesty, the revelations, the truths. HIghly recommended!
  • Curves (a monologue)

This monologue as an audition piece (in whole or an excerpt) will definitely wake up a director! Women with curves, with extra weight, women who have a sense of humor, should check out this winning monologue.

This solo play about OCD addresses life as a 'web of instrusive thoughts, rumination and anxiety' - and makes you, the [un]diagnosed, wonder about the same. You might freak out because you might recognize yourself in the parts played by the character-actor, you might laugh because you might recognize certain behaviors (hand-washing) or thoughts (hurting people, Antonio Banderas). Theatre should be always be a safe place to feel uncomfortable -- to recognize our common anxieties and traumas -- and this powerful play in the right theatre can make that possible - and make it ok to laugh.

Yes, an incredible play - arguably a masterpiece of the short form, seriously. The atmosphere, the evocative setting, the poetic language - and its disturbing subject - create a thought-provoking play that may provoke a re-assessment of Thomas Jefferson. A man of great letters, a giant of history - and that should pale in comparison to his monstrous, evil abuse of power over a slave child. A must-pick play for any #metoo festival. Produce this now, share it again and again. This play is proof that Carnes can't be ignored. She's brilliant!
  • I'LL LOVE YOU 'TIL THE COWS COME HOME

I've witnessed the erratic, aggressive behavior of an aging adult with dementia and its impact on a spouse - not as a spouse myself, but as a child as caregiver. Burdick is spot-on in capturing a volatile marriage in dissolution with one person with dementia. It's a painful read, its violent ending shocking but totally believable - it can happen; if the violent ending doesn't happen in real life, the spouse without the disease has probably thought of it. A highly recommended play for senior actors who love a challenge. Check it out.

Immediately I identified with Little Miss Muffet, the nerdy cheese-loving gal, and thought, something like, 'yeah it's about time I worked on my dating profile, went on some dates, and made some personal changes'...and then the lesson of the play, its moral, hit me, I thought -' yes, there's nothing wrong with me. I love what makes me odd.' Thank-you Muffet for being yourself. And thank you Hageman for this silly play. Highly recommended for kids and adults! I look forwarding to read more fairy tale shorts from Hageman.

A weight on my heart after reading this. Not a far-fetched concept - what happens at the end of this short short play may be a reality in America in a few years. It may be a new morning routine after combing hair or brushing teeth - if there's no serious gun control. Wake up, America.

If you enjoyed - and hopefully produced and shared - Goldman-Sherman's serio-comic marriage play MAN & WIFE, then I highly recommend you check out her play 800 MILES in only 10 minutes. Taking place just minutes after dropping off their son at college - that being one a relatable event for many married people - the play switches gears and examines with intensity and intimacy the fracturing of a marriage. Using a rhythmic language characteristically her own, this affecting short drama deserves multiple productions at any festival focusing on relationships or marriage.
