  • Asher Wyndham: TIME WOUNDS ALL HEELS

A short serio-comedy about karma, with an unexpected surprise, intense and brutal, during the showdown. This play, along with his other short, Benchmarks, showcases the playwright's keen insight into relationships and life itself.

  • Asher Wyndham: BENCHMARKS (10-minutes)

A short play big on ideas -- and those kinds of plays are rare. This play addresses how it's hard to let go of our past (our baggage full of artifacts) and seize the future (the bus).

A compelling play about how people stay connected after a tragedy. It does address a specific event, the 2011 earthquake/tsunami near Japan, but it speaks for all of us, reminding us that our humanity is noticeable in how we connect during and after a tragedy. I can't recall any play that has created such a theatrical spectacle from various technology -- YouTube videos, Skype, texting. If you know of a media designer that wants a challenge, have him or her read this play. If you're a playwright wanting to add technology into a script, you'll find inspiration in this play.

  • Asher Wyndham: The Conversos of Venice

A great play for community colleges and universities or theatres that want to produce a historical drama that is not written by Shakespeare and his contemporaries. A captivating continuation of the Shylock story that is both comedic and tragic, with lines that capture the grandiose personality of each character. Great parts for actresses (esp. Gessica) and actors (esp. Shylock and the hilarious Capitano and Launcelot). The playwright's knowledge of the period, the alliterative power of the poetry, the rhetorical strategizing, the spectacle, the largeness of the world on the page and (hopefully...

  • Asher Wyndham: Disconnections

This play's structure reminds me of Pinter's radio play Family Voices, but it's more powerful. Kennedy's 9-11 monologues make you wonder...what would you do if you were in this situation? What would you say to your loved ones before death strikes? Or, even better, I think the play forces you to make the connection right now, if you haven't -- tell another person what they mean to you, tell them you love them. From the first page, always, you're hooked by the playwright's emotional depth and poetry.

  • Asher Wyndham: Deep Water

I understand why this was a multiple winner. Produce this play and it will win over your audience with its emotional depth, horror, poetry and surprises. The play contains an exceptional monologue for an actress; perfect for competitions. Read this play, and you will keep Kennedy on your radar.

  • Asher Wyndham: Family Game Night (ten minute version)

Kennedy thinks outside the box, and deals with an important subject -- end-of-life medical and funeral decisions -- with humor. Within ten-minutes, he creates a peculiar family, each member with a distinct personality and voice. One of my favorite ten-minute plays. One-of-a-kind ten-minute play -- and that's rare.

  • Asher Wyndham: Assisted Living

When the surprise comes, it changes everything -- it adds this unexpected layer of tension, significance, emotions -- and it's heartbreaking. A memorable piece about aging, sickness, longing, and anger.

  • Boston Conservatory at Berklee: Dangling Participles

Most relationships -- serious or slight -- long-term or temporary (like hook-ups) can be confusing, even uncomfortable. This play captures that with humor and intelligence, and with a few surprises, with a discussion on grammar after a one-night stand.

Why is this amazing? First, it's a lot of FUN! Have you ever gone to a ten-minute play festival and you were bored? Choose this play and it'll be a winning production. Yes, yes, the play is an intelligent examination of human sexual relationships, but it's also HEE-LARIOUS! Are you a playwriting teacher?--if so, explicate it; the structure is perfect! Are you a student actor or director?--if so, do this play. Are you an artistic director?--consider adding this play to an evening of short plays.
