  • Asher Wyndham: D.J.'s AFTERNOON DELIGHT - A MONOLOGUE

The details entertain the senses in this unapolgetic, Epicurean monologue that is ASMR, ah, yum, mm. Lean back, read, enjoy.

  • Asher Wyndham: Comfortably Mum

This disheveled mom bursts off the page with her foul mouth. She wins us over with her tired existence, talking to us like we are right in the room with her, like we're another mum. I won't give the revelation away, just say that it comes out believably. So much happens in this monologue, addressing various unseen characters that you can picture the setting and scene unfolding.

  • Asher Wyndham: Dear Santa: A Short Monologue

A great role for a older actress! There's an aching desire and childhood disappointment, all told with a naughtiness that creates this unforgetable character. Consider this for your holida showcase. One of my favorite holiday monologues on NPX.

  • Asher Wyndham: Pink Feet, a 5 minute monologue

Howie is such a cool kid who gets it, how scary the world is for their generation because their parents' generation did nothing about a dying planet. I learned a lot without it coming across as a lesson because the playwright had it told through a genuine kid voice. An active monologue that would be a winner at competition.

  • Asher Wyndham: OH, BABY! (from Baby Fever, a 10 minute play)

Highlights some regret and sadness that many young mothers have. A honest look that can't be ignored when selecting plays for your festival on motherhood.

  • Asher Wyndham: The Thing About Me

Makes you wonder about the emotional toll on those who fight and protest and stand up for others. I haven't read this perspective before. I can clearly hear the voice of the character.

  • Asher Wyndham: Cyndi Timmons, Assistant Deli Manager

A character who bursts off the page with her foul-mouthed rant. She's awful, you probably never want to be served by her at the deli counter, but it's hard to ignore her. Because the playwright has written someone we can relate to, and empathize with, esp. if you have worked in the food industry. An actor would have a blast bringing this person to life.

  • Asher Wyndham: Back to School (Monologue)

This is the best monologue on school gun violence on NPX that I've read. And the best by this playwright I think. The character development through two voices, the one directed to the unseen son and one internally (indicated by italicized speech) makes it more heartwrenching. Whether the internal voice is delivered physically through gesture, staging or lighting or through recording, the impact would be the same. What this playwright has achieved with voice is outstanding and inspiring for playwrights like me who write monologues.
