  • Nora Louise Syran: Coronation

Fenton had me at: "I’m a nerd with a little power now"! Great premise, narrative framework, fun characters, flexible cast size, a little self-referencing (!), an artist on the Homecoming Court and a little smashing of a trope or two. Bravo.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Home-Style Cooking at the Gateway Cafe

"Just another day at the Gateway Cafe." Unlike our mysterious stranger, Philip Middleton Williams really has the "common touch" -- we're drawn in immediately into this world, wandering among "the people" and leaving with a clearer perspective on this nation's divided politics. Bravo!

  • Nora Louise Syran: Tennessee Wet Rub

Kim E. Ruyle certainly has found the secret sauce! This is a tight, gripping, tender and beautifully universal play designers, actors and audiences will love. Bravo! (Oct 24, 2024)

  • Nora Louise Syran: Now We Are a Hundred

I've always been fascinated by all things One Hundred Acre Wood and the real life story behind it all so I was delighted to come across this play. It's a lovely piece with plenty of "weight to any whimsy" which Tennant weaves throughout. So many details which a designer will have a ball translating to the stage: tea, the "silly old Bear," WWII, the titles... Brava! Great title! (Oct 24, 2024)

  • Nora Louise Syran: Maria Rasputin in Spangleland

Step right up and produce this one! This spectacle-driven play reminds us to be wary of all things that sparkle; that said, this piece is truly a gem. Kelly McBurnette-Andronicos, Ring-Master Extraordinaire, will leave audiences speechless as the worlds she creates are as breathtaking as the transitions between them. Completely immersive, dark, and yet riotously funny. I enjoyed the camaraderie between the three Weird Sisters: Lottie's malapropisms, Imperia's nicknames and Buddy's acerbic humor, as well as the meta-theatrical elements and the "new objectivity"/Cabaret-esque quality to the...

  • Nora Louise Syran: Save Hamlet! (a full length play)

Long story short, Levine had me giggling from page one. Even the stage directions are hysterical. Females in male roles --great fun, especially when Bernadette, Marcella and Horatia jump in to "help", the balance between action, humor and poetry... Good thing Mark Harvey Levine was "writing this stuff down!"

  • Nora Louise Syran: Scripted (a ten minute play)

Love a bit of meta-theatre, with some freewill thrown in! From its great use of naturalistic staging and dialogue to fun off-stage sound effects, we believe in Levine's world and his message that we can rewrite ours, too. Lovely.

  • Nora Louise Syran: God Splat

All at once philosophical, darkly funny, poetic, visceral and moving. Adam Szymkowicz presents a real gem for a director to play with, lovely material for actors and for all involved, most importantly the audience, a moment of true recognition and hope -- someone else thinks this too? An acceptance of life's complexities, its beauties and its tragedies and a reminder to call for help. (October 22, 2024)

  • Nora Louise Syran: THE LESSER LEYENDECKER, a 100-minute full-length drama, LGBTQ+ themes

Arianna Rose's clear grasp of the theatrical, historical and artistic is on full display in this tightly woven story of the leaders of the commercial art movement of America in the early 20th century. The play flies through time and their collective troubles with amazing fluidity, beautiful imagery and compelling confrontations. Brava.

  • Nora Louise Syran: The Pain In the Poetry (10-minutes)

Oh, just lovely! A play for any human being who seeks more from life than the routine obligations and miscommunications that cloud our way forward. This couple might have a second chance to ...collaborate. Audiences will be grinning from ear to ear!
