  • Mike Byham: Breakfast On The Moon (10-minute play)

A fun romp on our nearest celestial neighbor. BREAKFAST ON THE MOON gives some serious sixties-era sci-fi vibes! I was having a nostalgic flashback to The Twilight Zone reading this. Wonderful!

  • Mike Byham: Ancient Wisdom of the Shoebill Stork

Captivating short with bite bordering on modern classic parable status. A professor seeking wisdom but refusing to open their mind to consider what that actually means is accompanied by an intern who does. The result is an amusing and delightful tale with a twist. A lot said in a short time - and done so in a clever and extraordinarily entertaining manner. Very cool.

  • Mike Byham: INSERT TOKEN

Greg Burdick has written a humorous and disturbing alarm bell of a play with "Insert Token." I loved all the references to the video games we were all addicted to as kids. The explanations of what they were really testing us for is hysterical, and yet it explains so much. Hmm. This one will leave you laughing and wondering at the same time. So well done. By the way - I deleted all the games on my iPhone shortly after listening to this piece. You should too.

  • Mike Byham: Let's Dance

Family dynamics are tricky. Especially the relationship between a father and a son who doesn't meet expectations. Gladly for James, he has his sister to lean on when said father is laid to final rest. The revelations shared by Alice provide a healing salve and turns the bitter, sweet allowing James to move on. Crafted with emotional care and grounded with realistic dialogue, Rachel Feeny-Wiliams give us a gem with "Let's Dance."

  • Mike Byham: Angel Flight

Take the stress of flying, add an annoying seatmate and have this flight occur on what could possibly be the worst day of your life. This interesting, intriguing and emotionally-charged short play uses this setting to give us a glimpse of a young woman in grief. I've been on board Angel flights and Joe Swenson does a nice job accurately setting the scene. He does an even better job of bringing the impact home with a wonderful story. Well done.

  • Mike Byham: Taken to School

A dark comedy where the student becomes the teacher and the ne'er-do-well father gets what he deserves, and kind of loves it - John Busser's TAKEN TO SCHOOL is a winner. Love the relationship between the father and son. They each appear to operate within their own moral code, caring for each other yet defying traditional dynamics in doing so. A very fun educational experience.

  • Mike Byham: Allen Abduction

I love sci-fi comedy and this one is hysterical. John Busser has pulled out the stops bringing the cosmos to the sticks, replete with malaprops and puns. Mix in a little naughty humor and you have an instant classic. Great fun.

  • Mike Byham: COLLEEN'S OUTER DEMON

Imaginative and entertaining - Adam Richter's funny tale of avoiding death is a winner. The setting in a suburban mall is perfect and Colleen's spunkiness making use of her demons is an inspired choice. I would love to see the puppets on stage. I'm hoping a long life for Colleen and that she eventually finishes her novel - writing or reading. Well done!

  • Mike Byham: Abattoir

A recreation of a Sickle's fever dream, this short contains unexpected depth. Can a person be truly whole without recognizing both the good and bad within? How can we recognize the whole person giving both good and bad room to coexist? When given the choice would we choose the disturbing-looking/good or familiar-appearing/bad? What choice will Iggy ultimately make? Some creative costuming and staging elements could make this a memorable theatrical event. Would love to see this staged.

  • Mike Byham: Arm's Length Romance (A Duologue)

Clever, intriguing, funny and smart - this short by John Busser includes his trademark dialogue paced just right. Amazingly simple premise that raises questions that all couples face concerning our true desires and our unwillingness (and inability) to communicate these. Expectations met and unmet drive to its inevitable - and yet unchanging - conclusion. A lot packed into this brilliant short. Couples will laugh together and then discuss long into the night after seeing this staged. Great work.
