I love a good meta comedy! This was just delightful! So many laugh out loud lines in just 10 tight pages. So many jokes go by so quickly, you might miss them. The depth of the humor in this piece is staggering. Clearly, this playwright is very well-read. Lucky for his characters, too! They may be there to represent "archetype" characters, but they have very full backstories and deliciously witty dialogue!

Still wiping away tears after reading this. Heartbreakingly relatable, Dwyer takes us on a journey with Mel through her whole life, wishing she took up a little less space. So many lines in this play have run through my own mind as I am sure they have gone through many other minds. This script has the potential to really shake people to the core, but also open many eyes as well. Theatre and film directors take note. This is a script to bring to life! Just like Mel, it deserves to be seen and loved for the beauty it is.

A very relatable story about expectations, relationships, social media and New Year's Eve. It begins casually enough, as most evenings do. But the tension builds and builds until more than just the Time's Square ball drops.
A true slice of life. I'm still giggling about Jackie needing to go into the bathroom to see her engagement ring better!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: The Blank Page

How could I NOT recommend a Kitty Dubin play? I am so glad I read this one. It is so very relatable. Not just for writers, but creatives of all types. It is funny how people see other creatives succeed and feel it actually diminishes their own work. This play takes you through the journey of those dark voices one hears in their head while trying to do their best work as others succeed all around them. And, yeah, I am kind of annoyed that I actually want to read TALES FROM THE BAR! Feel stuck yourself? Read Danny's sermon!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: The Unlawful Abusive Patriarchal Possessive Entitlement of the Motown Sound By Way of the Surrogate Collusion of the Jackson Five (Or, I Want You Back)

Ever really listen to the lyrics of a favorite song? Ever discover the music was hiding a much darker story? Ever really listen to your partner in a relationship and realize you've been ignoring a much darker story? This is the journey Toby Malone takes us on in this epicly titled and epicly funny and emotional play. The characters are 3 dimensional and any actor would love a chance to tackle their dialogue. And I'm sure the design team will rejoice in the opportunity to build the beer tower! Fair warning, you won't get this song out of your head!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: Endowed: Or, The Play With The Butt-Plug

Even the stage directions in this wacky comedy are hilarious. The characters are full and interesting. The prop, is of course very note-worthy. But the story is a valid story of love, loss and growth. The cast will have a blast with the physical comedy and the design team will have some fun photos for their portfolios!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: Judgement Day

I'm so glad I put some time between Carrie and Debbie's deaths before reading this, or I would have had a hard time! I have a special place in my heart for the blunt and funny Carrie Fisher and Miller seems to capture her voice perfectly. I get some glimpses of the Postcards From The Edge mother/daughter dynamic, but in a new location! This is a fun, and nostalgic way to bring back two women many of us dearly loved, and frankly, will always love!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: Well-Intentioned White People

Wow! This play is full of so much! In a world full of "well-intentioned" memes and marches, we see the emotional labor Cass is put through on a matter she doesn't need to be put through. Not to make everyone else feel better about what happened to her. This play is so elegantly crafted with realistic situations and dialogue. Theatres take note! But also take note of this very important line: "You can’t keep demanding “to help”, Mara. Learn how to ask." It's likely time many of us learn to listen more and ask before we act.

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: Beautiful Noises

Wow. Just wow. I am still wiping away tears. This is so beautiful, magical and sad. Yet you are left with a tiny pinprick of hope as well. Masterfully woven, a story of love, loss and forgiveness. Sickles brings us on a full journey of life and death in a quick ten minutes.

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: Golden Kiss

In the spirit of plays like "Sylvia", this fast paced comedic romp will be a delightful challenge for actors and a rip-roaringly hilarious evening of theatre for the audience! I would be first in line to audition for this piece! But I would enjoy it tremendously from the audience as well (even though I would be jealous of the fun the cast was having!) Clever writing and word play as well as insightful!
