  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: Spooky U Chronicles: Dr. Burton's Notes

The last line is horrifically poetic in this monologue. An analytical look at horrors and monsters we hope to never encounter, but poor Burton must study. Very descriptively, Burton paints pictures we as the audience process and squirm to think about as we watch the mental burdens of this profession break this poor scholar.

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: DO THESE JEANS MAKE MY BUTT LOOK MASSIVE?

The tension in this play is frantic and yet adorable! The way Coco calmly guides Serafina through her body anxiety almost reaches through to the audience as well. We've all had an important "first date/meeting" and this is all very relatable. The swear jar moments are hilarious!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: Don't Touch The Carrot Cake

As an audience member, you try to find the characters you connect with and root for. Do we feel sorry for the harried mother just trying to do something for herself? Do we hate the ambitious baker who has won multiple bake offs? Or is the real villain the competition itself? The whimsy of this play has nefarious undertones as the competitors try to please Druisilla. The tension and the banter between these characters is delicious! Also, the best carrot cake is an invisible carrot cake!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: THE SEVERED HEAD ATOP THE TREE HAS A FEW THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THE HOLIDAY

This would be so fun to execute live on stage! Of course, the meat of the story is "how important are traditions?" Is it worth it to keep up a yearly holiday tradition if it only brings you stress? Does the warmth of nostalgia and not disappointing others (even broken, sentient ornaments) outweigh the misery you go through to get there? These questions can't be answered sweepingly, but in production, it's a hilarious way to posit them!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: TOADS!!! (an amphibious nativity play)

The visuals for this play are amazing and I can imagine so many creative ways to execute them. The toad has some hilarious deadpan lines. This is the alternative holiday programming your theater has been looking for!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: "Eight Aunt Marys"

Even at the end of her life, Eileen has stories and sass to spare. You may never know what is the truth in her final revelations here, but you will be engaged and see how hard she worked to build a life and a name for herself, despite the many roadblocks the men in her life may have put forth. A powerful tale from a strong woman losing her strength.

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: The Raven

What begins as a true and honest adaptation of Poe's THE RAVEN, suddenly had me belly laughing at page 5! It continues to honor the source material very well, while holding a modern audience's attention by letting them in on a little behind the scenes detail for the performers of this poem. Very fun way to share Poe and poetry with the world!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: The Sticking Point (Ten Minute)

Wow. This play tackles some very hard questions. Not just questions parents need to deal with, but all of us as human beings. There are no easy answers. There really aren't sides to take in this situation either. We just need to listen. Both parents here are doing what they think is best for their children. Unfortunately, their disagreement causes their children pain. But being a good parent means you can't always be the good guy. This will definitely need group discussion after the performance!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: Yeah, Art Figures

This play is so brilliantly crafted. The dialogue is some of the most natural dialogue I've encountered in a long while, and it is all about intelligence. How everyone is intelligent in different ways. And not in the "we're all special" kind of way, but how everyone reaches the answers to the same question via different mental paths. Art, music, math, athletics, they're all connected. And to say one has less value than another is just, like, wrong. This should be performed for educators!!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: The Window

This play is an exercise in characterization and fast paced patter. Audiences will love it! I can imagine the fun design of fish in bowl with cat and it just makes me smile! But the dialogue will also really make you think if you can pay attention longer than our friend the fish.
