Can something be deep and hilarious at the same time? I want to see this produced!

Oh boy, this play. 'Humor is what happens when we're told the truth quicker and more directly than we're used to.' -- George Saunders

  • Michele Clarke: Scaredy Kat Presents

If your theater serves young audiences, produce this excellent and triumphant piece! Easily the most endearing, believable characters, plot and dialogue involving young characters I've ever read. And the best treatment of a challenging situation faced by an increasing number of young people. What an enormous service this play will be for any community hoping to develop empathy and understanding. Brava.

A magnificent metaphor of a play! With so many layers and juxtapositions that I happily lost count! Brava.

I did not have "the moral equivalence of grave robbing and murder" on my NPX bingo card! This is a thoroughly delightful romp through the perils of 1828 London. And yes, please, let's see this with two women!

Even after the delicious twist, I didn't want YOU THINK YOU KNOW to end. These are enticing characters and there surely is more story to tell!

  • Michele Clarke: Laundry Day

A great demonstration of how one-minute plays are almost tailor made for life's moments of truth.

  • Michele Clarke: The List

This would be a fantastic competition piece for high school drama groups. A very fresh take on parents as antagonists. Clever cast sizing - with a terrific use of greek chorus. The pacing is excellent. Masterful scene changes - weaving effortlessly through flashbacks, time changes, and more. And well-choreographed walk-throughs between longer scenes that keep everything moving. Sure, all this means it's basically directed from the page, but there's still plenty of room for actors and director to make it their own. This is a must-read.
