  • H. Avery: SNACKS, DRUGS, AND THE SEXUAL APPETITES OF THE GAYS

This play really puts into perspective one's experiences with "helicopter parents". Especially as parents who accept their son, his sexuality, and his husband, the comedy comes from how they manage to go overboard with the acceptance. Funny, cringey, and a little sweet!

  • H. Avery: PUSH PULL

This play is an excellent study for actors experimenting with subtext, cause and effect, and subtlety. It's definitely a piece for hungry theatremakers!

  • H. Avery: YOURS EVER - THE RISE OF ISABELLA STEWART GARDNER

From the first few pages, Isabella Gardner is painted with such character, depth, and drive. Her relationships are so specific and defined from the jump! I would love to see a production of this piece!

  • H. Avery: Snooze: a monologue

Wow! What a fun, juicy monologue to devour. There's a vividness to the details though the monologue is brief. I would love to see someone's take on this!

  • H. Avery: Hospital Juicebox

This tiny play is a fantastic depiction of grieving the living. It's sweet, hopeful, and unglamorous in the best way.

  • H. Avery: Art Duty

Absolutely hilarious- ART DUTY is a masterful take on where society is heading. I could watch these characters interact with each other all day.

  • H. Avery: The Beta

Action packed and weirdly charming, The Beta offers a lot of freedom for the three actors it requires; it's certainly a piece to stretch creative limits. So much of the action is completed silently, and the dynamics between the characters is simultaneously concerning and tender. I was on my edge of my seat the entire read!

  • H. Avery: a seussified grindr date

Intrigued by the title, a seussified grindr date has been on my reading list for a long time. And it did not disappoint! What a creative format for documenting this interaction in the characters' lives!

  • H. Avery: LET. HER. RIP.

Really skillfully done. Rader takes the story of Jack the Ripper and entirely flips him on his head, as the play is entirely through the perspective of women. Though there is much heaviness and grief, there is also tenderness, humor, and power behind each of the characters. This is an excellent play for a theatre of any size and I'm sure it would resonate with audiences all over the globe.
