  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: Eleventh Night

As a fan of "The Twelfth Night," "Eleventh Night" is a prequel that cannot be missed. The dialogue is ironic in all the best ways, and the sisterhood presented is iconic. I love this short play.

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: Tickle That Dragon

Bellatrix LeStrange, Severus Snape, and a Golden Snitch walk into a fan club meeting, and argue about gatekeeping. Perfect for fans of Harry Potter, "Tickle That Dragon" is full of references, silly costumes, and teenage drama. Rex McGregor has written tongue-in-cheek comedy that I find enjoyable and would love to see.

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: Married to Time

"Married to Time" is a heartwarming short with dialogue that flows so very nicely. Sarah Cho manages to marry sci-fi with domestic comedy, and blends it nicely. Judy and Mark's conversation both touched my soul and made me laugh.
I love this little play and so badly want to see it performed.

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: The Paranormal Club's Seventh Annual Haunted House Sleepover

"The Paranormal Club's Seventh Annual Haunted House Sleepover" is a spooky little play that almost feels like "Scooby Doo" meets "Evil Dead." Featuring distinct characters, fun dialogue, and a creepy twist; Cole Hunter Dzubak's audio drama is ideal for Halloween season!

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: "All Star" by Smash Mouth has been my Alarm for Eight Years and my Girlfriend Hates it

With a title like "'All Star' by Smash Mouth has been my Alarm for Eight Years and my Girlfriend Hates it" how could I not give it a read? Despite being super short, this piece is very funny and so real.
I can see this script doing very well as a Tiktok skit or something of the like.

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: Harvest (or: Survivalist Corn Maze)

"Harvest (or: Survivalist Corn Maze)" is an intriguing sketch with the feel of an SNL fall special. It straddles the line between silly and creepy and has a tone perfect for spooky season.

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: The Proposals

"The Proposals" is a farcical little rom-com full of fun and surprises. This play features a powerful woman and love for the underdog. With distinct characters, silly mishaps, and shocking twists, Bob Allen paints a comedy perfect for a theatre festival.

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: The Street Has I's

In the midst of the Elmo vs Rocco era, comes this fun spoof by Greg Lam. Similar to "Avenue Q," this piece toys with the conventions of the infamous muppet-led children's program. A spoof of both Sesame Street and the film noir style, "The Street Has I's" is a silly, witty piece, perfect for all ages.

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: Take My Name Off “The List”

Ah the girlbossery. Veruca Salt always knows what she wants, and this time, it's the legal right to have her name removed from Santa's List. In this delightful play, Lee R. Lawing makes us think about double standards in regards to the outcome and aftermath of Willy Wonka's infamous factory tour. With dialogue full of banter, passion, and reason; this play both made me laugh and tossed more fuel on my feminist flame. This is the kind of comedy I need in my life. Please somebody produce this play.

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: Narcissa, Narcissa

"Narcissa, Narcissa" is an incredibly well written piece. In this play, we see the inner life of a survivor, the conversations she has with herself, and the first steps of healing. Aly Kantor's dialogue has this poetic flow that is so very efficient in telling Narcissa's story. The power of this play has me at a loss for words. All I can say is, it had me on the verge of tears from the first page to the last line, and I would love to see it staged.
