  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: QUICK FAVOR (A MONOLOGUE)

Oh my gosh! Richter has truly captured the way that people talk in this fun and quirky monologue. It presents so many places for peaks and valleys and big choices. Hilarious and...otherworldly?

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: Women, Am I Right?

What irony. Hageman's short piece will have you laughing and saying, "The man, the dude, and the bro can catch these hands."

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: You Enter the Tavern

Sometimes you read a play & it just feels like...magic. That's this play. Kantor has a skill for creating memorable characters who are charming, yet real. That's what makes this piece so special; while each party member has her own side-quest, together they are a perfect team of misfits who lean on each other as they slay life's monsters. I also want to point out that this play gives due representation to queer identities that are usually ignored. Claps.
Witty dialogue, strong female roles, chosen family, magic within the mundane... I'm obsessed with this play & you should be too.

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: Times Out/Time to Begin Again

What an interesting concept! Medlin's mythology is one of hope and new beginnings. What starts as a mystery blossoms into something beautiful. Lovely!

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: Pick a Door, Any Door

Perry's got some bizarre critical thinking skills, but he might just be onto something. Dzubak is very clever. This play made me laugh. Love it!

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: Southern Family Planning - A Farce

Pharmacist delivers Chip a taste of his own medicine.
This play is so necessary right now.

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: The Revenge of Harvey

    Angry, angry rabbit!
In Cole's chilling alternate ending, Harvey is not imaginary nor is he a friend (think: Monty Python's guard rabbit). What a spooky way to turn those tables!

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: Expectations

I've never liked Dickens' portrayal of women and this play has opened my eyes to the story behind the stories, the story I never knew before. After reading this piece I am filled with chills and so much devastation for Kate and the innocence and faithfulness and hope she was forced to throw away. #JusticeforKate

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: NOH More Drama: A Children’s Origin Play Based on Japanese Myth

Well, you noh what they say...Well done. This is a beautiful and family friendly retelling of a folktale that brings so much joy. I can imagine this piece being a visual masterpiece and a theatrical experience.
