  • Prior Engagement

No matter how sad we are, some memories are not worth cutting up. This play is really interesting. It draws you in and then punches you in the gut once you realize what's going on. PRIOR ENGAGEMENT is a slice of life drama that shows a side of grief that often isn't shown, and it also gives us two characters who are there for each other. Well done.
  • No More Flowers

"Sometimes a flower is just a flower."
In this clever piece, O'Keeffe learns that Freud does not belong in the art studio.
With Freud's constant insistences about O'Keeffe's paintings, despite O'Keeffe's negations of his theories, Hall has managed to capture the frustration of misinterpretation and over-analysis in art. Plus, the moment when Freud goes to sleep and O'Keeffe has a moment to fully explain her true inspiration (which differs largely from the psychologist's assumptions) is absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking. This play gets me fired up. It's really interesting and smart. Everyone should read it...produce it too!
  • Disney Channel Original Movies Inspired this Play
    23 Mar. 2023
This play is hilarious. Dzubak has truly captured the reality of putting a necklace on another person in all the awkwardness that comes with that action. Not to mention, the character descriptions and stage directions had me giggling. Well done!
  • The Third Person
    23 Mar. 2023
What an intriguing concept. Borengasser is right; life is a story and stories have narrators. And in her hour of need, Karen's narrator provides a divine intervention, becoming the friend she never knew she had. This is such an interesting play and it would be so cool to see onstage!
  • Open Mic Night
    23 Mar. 2023
    Oh. My. Gosh.
I did not expect that! Clever wordplay, terrifying and raw, OPEN MIC NIGHT is a dark comedy with a big twist (of the knife, perhaps?). If you're looking for a good horror piece, give this one a shot!
  • Do Not Let Me Fall
    23 Mar. 2023
A tragic mystery paired with movement and the supernatural, DO NOT LET ME FALL is a masterpiece. Everything is laid out so poignantly from the setting to the dialogue to the cast of characters.
Through Helena, Rachel Feeny-Williams has shown that in situations of abuse, we need to speak up against what is wrong.
I have chills. This play will be so powerful onstage.
  • That Question
    23 Mar. 2023
A successful woman bumps off her husband of many years seemingly out of the blue...I know what you're thinking: "Why?" Well...Maybe you should just wait until the end.
This dark comedy is tricky and clever with a game built upon riddles and questions that can only be answered with more questions. This play is a treat for strong actors and intelligent audiences.
  • Just Like In The Movies
    23 Mar. 2023
I would love to see a Hallmark movie actually end this way. Wouldn't that be a neat twist?!
Like always, Swenson's dialogue is top-tier. This play would be so funny to see live and I hope I get a chance to. It's a winner for a reason!
  • The Mirror
    23 Mar. 2023
Who knew that a bathroom mirror could be so powerful?
Swenson reminds us that mirrors are the only place where we can truly perceive ourselves, and what we see may well be up to us.
After reading this play, I am full-on sobbing (I'd say "ugly crying" but I don't think Mirror would approve of that).
THE MIRROR is beautiful and inspiring, and shows us the three characters (and the audience) that the people they want to be have been inside of them all along.
Please don't pass up a chance to interact with this gorgeous play.

"You have no right to use reality against me this way! For God’s sake, man, this is the theatre!"
Oh my gosh! This play cracks me up. Sickles uses the power of meta to his advantage in this hilarious melodrama. Not only are the characters incredible, but the banter works so well. And they're right, ants are scary.
I do hope that Nonetta is wrong about one thing, though, because I want to see these characters get a chance to yell ANTS! onstage for all to hear.
