  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: Smile, Baby

In this short, the catcaller finally gets a taste of his own medicine. Haas' short made me "smile."

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: After the Garden

What do you do when you've been literally made for each other but you've been married for 300 long years?
    Sometimes blintzes are the answer.

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: Marietta's Ultimatum

This play is a work of art. Once again, Rex McGregor has crafted a clever little script with such charming characters to drive the plot.
I also love the little connection to "The Merry Widow," because much like the widow-herself-Marietta knows the right words to trick her very own Danilo into doing what she wants.
    Bravo!

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: Prior Engagement

No matter how sad we are, some memories are not worth cutting up. This play is really interesting. It draws you in and then punches you in the gut once you realize what's going on. PRIOR ENGAGEMENT is a slice of life drama that shows a side of grief that often isn't shown, and it also gives us two characters who are there for each other. Well done.

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: No More Flowers

"Sometimes a flower is just a flower."
In this clever piece, O'Keeffe learns that Freud does not belong in the art studio.
With Freud's constant insistences about O'Keeffe's paintings, despite O'Keeffe's negations of his theories, Hall has managed to capture the frustration of misinterpretation and over-analysis in art. Plus, the moment when Freud goes to sleep and O'Keeffe has a moment to fully explain her true inspiration (which differs largely from the psychologist's assumptions) is absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking. This play gets me fired up. It's really interesting and smart...

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: Disney Channel Original Movies Inspired this Play

This play is hilarious. Dzubak has truly captured the reality of putting a necklace on another person in all the awkwardness that comes with that action. Not to mention, the character descriptions and stage directions had me giggling. Well done!

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: The Third Person

What an intriguing concept. Borengasser is right; life is a story and stories have narrators. And in her hour of need, Karen's narrator provides a divine intervention, becoming the friend she never knew she had. This is such an interesting play and it would be so cool to see onstage!

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: Open Mic Night

    Oh. My. Gosh.
I did not expect that! Clever wordplay, terrifying and raw, OPEN MIC NIGHT is a dark comedy with a big twist (of the knife, perhaps?). If you're looking for a good horror piece, give this one a shot!

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: Do Not Let Me Fall

A tragic mystery paired with movement and the supernatural, DO NOT LET ME FALL is a masterpiece. Everything is laid out so poignantly from the setting to the dialogue to the cast of characters.
Through Helena, Rachel Feeny-Williams has shown that in situations of abuse, we need to speak up against what is wrong.
I have chills. This play will be so powerful onstage.

  • Hannah Lee DeFrates: That Question

A successful woman bumps off her husband of many years seemingly out of the blue...I know what you're thinking: "Why?" Well...Maybe you should just wait until the end.
This dark comedy is tricky and clever with a game built upon riddles and questions that can only be answered with more questions. This play is a treat for strong actors and intelligent audiences.
