  • Neil Radtke: You're Fired

This play is a well-crafted look into the trials and tribulations of newlyweds. Even though it is short, the arc of this story is complete and it reaches a very satisfying end. Hageman does a wonderful job in capturing the rollercoaster of emotions both characters go through during this scene. This play would give actors plenty to work with on stage as they perform this highly relatable scene.

  • Neil Radtke: Antagonism, or, Some People Like to P*ss in the Pool [a 1-minute play]

This play connects on so many levels because we all know "that one person." I love the ending message of this play and the symbolic nature of the balloons. In just one minute, Martin makes a powerful point.

  • Neil Radtke: SOME AMERICAN DAD: A MONOLOGUE

This short monologue makes me sad because it captures what are actually real fears parents have in the United States about sending their kids to school. We are living in a world where school shootings barely register on the national news anymore. With this monologue, Wyndham has created a character that is running a gamut of emotions. This piece is powerful, topical, and relevant and will resonate with parents who share these same feelings.

  • Neil Radtke: The Greatest Show

I really enjoyed this play. Hilton creates an intriguing world where the arts are devalued to the point of almost being completely forgotten. I was moved by the parallels of this world to that of our own world where arts are many times given the back seat. This play does not leave the viewer in despair, however, as its final message of hope resonates beyond the final line. A well-written play that is well worth the read!

  • Neil Radtke: KiKi Pineapple Starring In: "Saving the World!"

I had the pleasure of directing this show with my 8th graders as a part of a Night of Theatre at our school. The actors enjoyed playing the uniquely named characters and the audience enjoyed the fun look at a 3rd-grade playground. This play does a great job in being fun and entertaining, while still helping to teach a valuable lesson.

  • Neil Radtke: ADDY: AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MONOLOGUE

This monologue definitely tugs at the heartstrings and makes you want to do everything to help the young girl. I think it is the oblivious nature of the girl to her situation that makes you want to help her before she realizes exactly what her situation is. Very well written and opens your eyes to a situation that is all too real for many young people.

  • Neil Radtke: Cell Mates

In what is sadly an all too realistic situation, Haan uses humor and satire to craft what could be considered a cautionary tale. Are we slowly losing our ability to communicate without the benefit of a device? The playwright does a masterful job of avoiding the typical "kids today and their phones" angle to instead present a play that will resonate with old and young alike. This play entertains and also makes you think.

  • Neil Radtke: New Mistakes

I enjoyed reading this play. It encapsulates the awkwardness of a first date and does so in a creative way through their text messages. (Including saying the punctuation.) This short play pays off in the end with a touching moment that would linger in the minds of an audience.

  • Neil Radtke: BLACK HOLE!!! A One-Minute Play for Kids

Even though this is a short play, the two characters establish themselves as very typical of what you'd find in a middle school classroom. There is one who is trying to be a good student and one who is trying to avoid anything having to do with schoolwork. There are consequences for not doing the assigned work, though kids! In this case, dire consequences indeed. Maybe interesting things do happen in science class! This would be a really fun play for young actors to perform!

The best part of this play for me is when the "big reveal" happens and you retroactively laugh at all the pretentious silliness that occurred before. It is a creative and unique play that audiences will love watching, and actors will love performing.
