  • Dawn Branch: Two Monologues, a Sandwich and a Floyd-Priskorn

What a fun, absurd, delightful play with musical and playwright references!!! SOLD. So many lines had me laughing out loud, especially at the ridiculousness of humanity now. We DID live without phones at one point, right?

  • Dawn Branch: coming out

I was hooked from the setting "A family dining room, in a dystopian universe for all we know" - aren't they always. This short play from Donley tackles a serious subject and takes some turns, keeping its audience guessing until the hilarious end.

  • Dawn Branch: The Graveyard Shift Bites

What a fun, creepy short play from John Busser. It's clear from the beginning that something is off, and it's hilarious. I can see everyone involved in a production having the best time - there are so many elements where designers and actors can really shine.

  • Dawn Branch: A RAINY NIGHT IN HOLLYWOOD - one-act based on actual events in 1940's Hollywood.

A RAINY NIGHT IN HOLLYWOOD presents a beautiful juxtaposition between two worlds - the glamour of old Hollywood and the brutal reality of war. Most of the audience probably exists somewhere in the middle of these extremes, and that's where this play takes place - in the every day. Erb presents a genuine moment between a movie star and a driver and it's a lovely tableau.

  • Dawn Branch: a seussified grindr date

This is a very awkward, uncomfortable play - in the BEST way. The use of rhyming (which is not easy) is done so well, as is the use of silence in response. The context of dating apps and who people are on them - truthful or not - is very interesting; how much do we reveal to strangers and what are the consequences of doing so. It's a big question to ask in a short play and will have the audience thinking. There are a lot of opposites to consider here and Donley presents them beautifully.

  • Dawn Branch: Penelope: A Lesson in Drowning

Penelope has built a wall around her emotions, something that so many of us can relate to. With the arrival of Odysseus, the wall slowly, and reluctantly, starts to come down. The rapport that develops between Penelope and Odysseus is really delightful to watch. This play is a beautiful depiction of vulnerability with a very theatrical backdrop of water illustrating emotions Penelope may or may not be able to articulate.

  • Dawn Branch: THE DATING POOL (10-minute version) comedy

A beautiful look at one woman's life - the joys, the regrets, the mistakes, the survival. It all goes into making one full life. I've not (yet) read the longer version, but this short is gracefully done and would be fun for an intergenerational cast to dive into (sorry - had to).

  • Dawn Branch: Body Horror

This is a wonderfully honest portrayal of being a teen girl. Yes, some of the details vary from what others may have gone through. But we all know that puberty is awkward and it's great when you have a friend to have the most awkward conversations with. Bravo on this piece!

  • Dawn Branch: Goodbye, My Girls

There are may aspects of being a woman to which all women can relate - good and bad. This short play covers some big ones - past trauma, past ecstasy, anxiety, and the realities of what continuing to live may bring. Our bodies change, but they are still one of the only constants we have in life. And saying goodbye to any piece of them is hard. This play touches beautifully on that moment.

  • Dawn Branch: The Green Door

This short play leaves the audience quite a lot to think about - destiny, coincidence, whether either really matter? But more importantly how we interpret the things that present themselves to us daily. How many meanings can "The Green Door" have and is the order in which we approach them important? (In this case, very.) There's a film noir quality to this piece that would fit nicely into a festival. A very intriguing piece.
