  • Dawn Branch: TWO LADIES IN BLACK HEADING TOWARD A BENCH (a 10 minute comedy)

If ever a play made me imagine what my best friend and I will be like later in life, this is it! The easy friendship between these two women is lovely to watch and the fact that they are scheming away their day while taking a quick break on a bench makes me smile. Well done.

  • Dawn Branch: Confidence Scan

This hilarious job interview from hell is so well-written; I had no clue what was going to happen next and I couldn't wait to find out. Busser builds the pace so perfectly that actions that should seem absurd are actually just the next logical step. Fantastic work.

  • Dawn Branch: Case Study: Ruth Ellis

This is a great mental exercise presented by Feeny-Williams. In a society obsessed with true crime, we are asked to take a look at a case that may have definitively changed laws and we are given the space to come to our own conclusions. Presenting the information as a student group project is fantastic as those are some of the most dreaded assignments, but they also provide the opportunity to see different points of views. A really compelling piece that will have the audience debating the case it's based on far after the theater lights fade. Fabulous work.

  • Dawn Branch: Camel Girl

It's not easy to provoke a reaction from a reader within two lines but Cole does this in "Camel Girl." Based on the play's setting, the darker, seedier side of circus life is expected and delivered, but the surprise is that Ella manages to take control of the misfortune that could hold back. She's not a victim. She is a strong character for any actress to play and seeing this hidden side of a performer's life is beautiful. Ella is looking for 'a few moments of peace' and Cole sets up a premise to deliver just that. Great job.

  • Dawn Branch: Mamma's Combination (A gender role reversal version of DADDY'S SAFE)

We frequently find ourselves at odds between what we want (or maybe even need) and what others want. That's the crux of this play by Christopher Plumridge. An intriguing twist as a companion to "Daddy's Safe," this piece plays with power dynamics and actors will have a great time exploring the motivations behind the characters of She and Him. Nicely done.

  • Dawn Branch: Lady and the Raccoon

I had absolutely no idea what was going on for the first bit of Prillaman's play and it was amazing. The assemblage of random animals and their spaghetti dinner (just - WHAT!?) had me smiling, laughing and kept me reading. Actors will love the freedom of physical performance in this piece. Plus - spaghetti! A wonderful short to add to any ten minute showcase.
