A terrific and searingly funny play with lots of marvelous twists and turns. Loved it!

A beautiful and important play about attempted suicide and how painful it is to talk about, but how necessary it is to talk. Hageman has such a gift for getting under the surface of her characters and showing us all the things they wish they could say but can't--just like real life. And the fact that these two characters are teens makes this play feel even more vital and essential. I'm in awe of this playwright's talent.
  • The Waiting Room

A beautiful, delicate, moving play about an incredibly difficult subject, and with so much going on both on and under the surface. I felt like I was right there these three friend and the anguish they're all trying to hard not to display. I also love the theatricality of it and how we get to see their past selves and memories and how those all change through the course of the play. Would love to see this on stage.
  • TOILET PAPER

That anyone can write such a funny play-of-ideas about toilet paper is amazing, but not surprising from Goldman-Sherman, one of our smartest most ambitious playwrights (and I mean "ambitious" in terms of the challenges she embraces and makes art out of in her own work). The whole circus element is brilliant and so wonderfully theatrical. Read this!

I adore the meta-theatricality of this play and how absolutely funny it is while expertly balancing its larger themes, and the underlying darkness that sneaks up on the reader in a really brilliant way. I would love to see this on stage!
  • Notes (a monologue)

A terrific monologue that keeps us on the edge of our seats, wondering what is actually in the note, and totally relating to Riley's dilemma. So well done!
  • Day Six

Perfect gem of a one-minute play, which contains Hageman's characteristic humor and theatricality along with (also characteristically) utterly believable--and surprising--characters. So fun!

Wow, what a play--skillful and fearless and emotionally powerful. A perfect example of how theater can open our eyes and compel us to respond to realities many of us would rather not think about. I'm in awe of this play (and playwright!).
  • SUMMER (CONCENTRATION) CAMP COLORING CLUB
    25 Apr. 2019
An unflinching, gut-punching and very timely play about a horrible situation in the U.S. today. The dialogue interspersed with children's artwork is a powerful and uniquely theatrical juxtaposition that left me reeling, as it should. This play should be performed for audiences everywhere.
  • All the Difference
    23 Apr. 2019
A totally lovely and very real-sounding play about two seemingly different and clearly lonely people who find themselves bonding and being helped by each other in a library. I love the dialogue about Frost's poetry, and the offstage Shusher is a wonderful counterpoint to the increasingly self-revelatory dialogue on stage. Hageman is such a gifted playwright with a sure command of the stage and the ability to show us the inner workings of her characters in way that makes them feel like actual living people. This would make a terrific addition to any play fest.
