  • Jennifer O'Grady: When the Dodgers Left Brooklyn

What a beautiful, theatrical, and joyful play, and with a fantastic premise. I love how Bud (dead) and his granddaughter (not yet born and about to be adopted) meet. At the heart of this play is adoption and what it means to love and be a family. This would be terrific in any short-play festival and is perfect for all ages.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: A World Without Matthew Weaver

Hilarious, inventive and extremely charming short play. Do read Matthew Weaver's work and read Scott Sickles' plays too. You'll be glad you did.

Beautiful, moving monologue about parenting during a pandemic, empathy, and making connections between past and present. Loved it.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Batman Vs. The Joker on Zoom

I love Hageman's revisiting of Batman and The Joker but this time for our pandemic world. Here, Batman and The Joker, attempting to continue their battles via Zoom, struggle with hilarious existential angst, along with a sardonic Robin. Hageman's plays are always so sharp and funny but also filled with heartbreaking truths and have lots to say about today's world. This is fabulous play for all ages, whether viewing on Zoom or not.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Two Tomatoes Attend an Evening at the Theatre

Matthew Weaver never fails to astonish me. Hand him a few weird prompts and he comes up with a fabulous comic play about tomatoes (Zelba and Jerry!). This is a playwright who can, is seems, write about anyone and anything and make us care. Truly awesome.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Fanny Brice

Miller's monologue vividly captures Fanny Brice's wry humor and feels wonderfully intimate too, as if the real Brice is actually thinking out loud here, with lots going on under the surface. Would love to see this performed.
