  • Jennifer O'Grady: The Baked Alaska Incident

What happens when a tech trillionaire thinks he can do (and own) exactly what he wants is at the heart of this very funny satire set during the live broadcast of an Alaskan morning show. Floyd-Priskorn skillfully conveys an important and timely message while providing lots of fast-moving and theatrical entertainment. With a flexible cast of 4 to 25 actors, this would be a super-fun for theaters and schools to stage.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Fahrenheit Ho Ho Ho

Combine Santa Claus, author Ray Bradbury and a middle-schooler stuck with writing a book report on Bradbury's FAHRENHEIT 451 and you get Heyman's wonderfully irreverent, funny and very timely Christmas play about literature and society. Well done!

  • Jennifer O'Grady: In My World, an Entire Entenmann’s Cheese Danish is One Serving

I love both these characters and Soucy's exploration of what it means to be finally taking a stand in life, even if that stand isn't quite what Debbie's friend Mark was expecting. With two very truthful characters and a universally relatable situation, this funny and charmingly bittersweet two-hander is sure to be a hit with audiences anywhere.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: The Eighth Deadly Sin

Stuck with their own repetitive sinful behaviors, the Seven Deadly Sins find a new and better purpose when a unknown nameless Sinner appears.. Khanna's very funny short play about identity and different types of "hells" has a wonderfully uplifting ending and would be tremendous fun to perform and to watch.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Things I Learned While Careening Toward the Center of the Universe

Reading this sweet Christmas/holiday play with likable characters and so much heart and warmth reminds me of drinking top-quality hot chocolate with delicious whipped cream on top, or a glass of festive eggnog, or whatever treat makes you smile during the holidays/shortest days of the year. It feels good to be left smiling after reading a play (especially these days) and this one does just that. Lovely.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Destiny is a Careless Waiter

This is such a fun and funny play! Zaffarano has expertly crafted a wonderfully fast-moving play revolving around two couples and a misplaced engagement ring that had me at the edge of my seat, wondering what would happen next as each new complication came along. No surprise that it's had so many productions. I would love to see this on stage.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Olly Olly Oxen Free

Fantastically creepy short horror-play that works beautifully on its own terms and can also be seen as a metaphor for many other things. Floyd-Priskorn skillfully builds suspense with taut lines and a story that's increasingly (and wonderfully) scary. Perfect for Halloween or any time!

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Emily & the Mind of God

In just a few moments of time Syran’s theatrical play centering Emily Dickinson explores transitions both earthly and spiritual and gives us a fascinating lyrical glimpse into the mind of an extraordinary woman. Anyone who knows anything about Dickinson will find that Syran has created a vividly compelling voice for her and a character that would be a gift for an actress to perform. The surprising ending is a moving commentary on Dickinson’s life as well as the challenge of writing creatively in a world that doesn't always value that gift either in Dickinson's time or ours.
