  • Jennifer O'Grady: waiting for the bus

I love the skillful way Soucy's short play evolves and the surprising turns it takes until we reach a reveal that's completely and wonderfully unexpected. I also love that it made me laugh out loud. So good!

  • Jennifer O'Grady: This Is Not Your Tragedy

I love the game-show setting of Jonte's surprising short play, which seemingly begins as a sharp satire of narcissistic behavior then morphs into a story that's wonderfully mysterious and powerfully moving. Terrific roles for actors too.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: There's Nothing to See Here So Just Move Along Already!

What a fantastic ten-minute play! I love how the history between the two characters unfolds and surprises us while they're examining a (bloody but very funny) "crime scene." I also love that it's set on Christmas Eve, making it a surprisingly lovely and heartfelt holiday play as well as a wonderfully unusual one. Audiences would love this!

  • Jennifer O'Grady: We Are Cranston

What a fantastic play! In this taut ten-minute dark comedy LIsa Dellagiarino Feriend brilliantly skewers the glorification of HS sports, in particular, football; our society's overemphasis on winning and raising kids to be highly competitive; and how overinvested (and manipulative) adults can be when it comes to kids' sports. The response of the teenage teammates to the situation they’ve been forced into is both laugh-out-loud funny and totally heartbreaking. SO good!!

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Ballad: A Two Character Play

This is such a beautiful and moving play. I love the nonlinear structure and two heartbreaking male characters who grow closer over time and whose stories unfold through Love's extremely well-crafted dialogue and skillful use of subtext, as well as a unique and theatrical play on the word "ballad." Lingers long after reading and would undoubtedly linger even more powerfully after viewing.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Daydream

Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend's DAYDREAM is an inventive and hilarious antidote to family gatherings at the holidays and especially now (as in December 2024, though this is a play for all time). Who among us can't relate to Heather? I'd say nobody. Collaborators would have a blast with this script--even the stage directions are a joy to read--and I'd love to see it staged. So well done!

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Angles in the Snow

So funny! I love the suspenseful "showdown" between math teacher and student, when these math students get quite a bit more than they'd requested. Fenton's script would be lots of fun to stage and would also make a great film.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: The Miracle on Hollywood & Vine

If you haven't yet read Matthew Weaver's plays you're in for a treat. Weaver is a writer who can create two characters, an elephant and an "old clown," and make them and their friendship utterly charming and believable. This delightful ten-minute play deftly combines sly humor and gentle absurdism with wonderfully warm humanity and a unique and imaginative story. I would love to see this performed. Would also love to see more of Elephant and Old Clown!

  • Jennifer O'Grady: shELF Life

Samara Siskind’s ten-minute genre-spanning satire of the Elf on a Shelf madness and our Instagram-obsessed society is smart, hilarious and timely. With three super-fun characters and written skillfully in very funny and witty verse, this would be enormous fun to perform and to watch and is perfect for the holiday season and beyond!

  • Jennifer O'Grady: What Hath the Wraith's Wreath Wrought?

Oh, this is so much fun! Prillaman's ten-minute play about an unusual family curse is a wonderfully witty (note the Ws there?) mashup of holiday and horror, with two super-fun roles for women. I would love to see this on stage!
