Beautiful. John Mabey has quickly become one of my favorite writers for their ability to tell meaningful stories with emotion, subtext and characters we care about, all skillfully presented in spare and concise language that offers so much to actors and enables audiences to lean in and leave changed. This is an absolutely wonderful play, but read anything by Mabey and you will see what I mean.
  • KRAMPUS MY STYLE - a monologue
    5 Dec. 2023
Super-fun holiday monologue delivered by the traditionally scary yet (here) surprisingly nostalgic Krampus. I also love that Krampus is wearing a smoking jacket!

Such a lovely memory piece about love and family, and a fun window onto another time. Wonderful!
  • That Wasn't Mistletoe (from HOW MY PRINCE CHARMING TURNED OUT TO BE A FROG)
    29 Nov. 2023
Sweet holiday play with a fun and funny intermingling of both French and American Christmasy traditions. Made me crave eggnog and buche de Noel!
  • Elves on Strike

Hilarious metatheatrical short play that's perfect for the holiday season. Would be a super-fun addition any short play festival!
  • Live, Laugh, Lobotomize
    28 Nov. 2023
A really charming, imaginative and funny short play in which an unhappy human learns a life lesson from a half-human, half-demon shop-owner and a wood troll. Moving, uplifting, and fun!
  • The Melatonin Miners
    28 Nov. 2023
A wonderfully funny mishmash of "spirit" characters, including Beethoven, W.C. Fields and Carl Reiner, visit (and annoy) poor Steve who just wants to get some sleep in advance of Christmas. A great holiday play for all ages!

Super-funny and satirical one-minute play that makes us wonder and keeps us thinking. Fun and well done!
  • France is Bacon
    20 Nov. 2023
Zaffarano masterfully uses subtext in this taut and surprisingly funny ten-minute two-hander to explore grief and the fraught relationship between a father and his twelve-year-old daughter as they try to navigate life after loss. I got to hear a recent reading of this moving and ultimately uplifting play and would love to see it produced.

A very moving and gripping exploration of the struggling field of print journalism and how tough it can be to keep our dreams afloat while pitted against those with too much power. I got to hear a reading of Richter's ten-minute two-hander and audience members were at the edges of their seats. I'd love to see a full production of this!
