  • Monica Cross: Minor Deviations

MINOR DEVIATIONS is a very fun Science Fiction play. I saw this play at the Femme Fatale Play Festival. Erin Osgood has created delightful parts for actors to sink their teeth into. One actors plays a series of robots all with minor deviations. It creates a fun challenge for performance! This play works beautifully in performance and dashes expectations in the most satisfying way! Produce this play!

  • Monica Cross: The Way You Made Me (a solo show)

I saw THE WAY YOU MADE ME at the Femme Fatale Play Festival. Lindsay Partain has created raw language, pulsing with emotion. This play is full of loss and trauma, but still finds a way to bring us hope and joy. It is masterful. It is a play that you lean into, that you can feel engulfing you. Absolutely powerful!

  • Monica Cross: Little Boots

LITTLE BOOTS is a brutally honest look at sexual assault in the Military. I had the chance to see this show as part of the Femme Fatale Play Festival. Cinthya Hernandez crafts a non-linear narrative which uses flashbacks to tell the story of what has happened. This play is in your face and full of disturbing realizations. A must read!

  • Monica Cross: Deanna and Paul

I saw DEANNA AND PAUL in the Femme Fatale Play Festival. Dagney Kerr's writing is sweet and soulful. Deanna and Paul couldn't be more different and I was rooting for them from the very beginning. This play is full of subtly powerful moments, that you will be thinking about for days afterward! Check it out!

  • Monica Cross: Why? (a one-minute play)

I was not prepared for this play! WHY? is a 1-minute play that packs an emotional punch! Do yourself a favor and read this wonderful play by Matthew Weaver!

  • Monica Cross: Poetry (short play)

I truly enjoy David Hansen's short plays and POETRY is no exception! This play drives home the frustration of trying to work while another person keeps telling you how to do it. This short play hits all of the major misconceptions about writing poetry in quick succession! And what an ending!

  • Monica Cross: Love, Sometimes

LOVE, SOMETIMES is charming and funny and complicated all at the same time. Jacqueline Goldfinger expertly creates two characters with a difficult past that we are still eager to see make it together. The dialogue is fast-paced and drew me in immediately! A great two-hander!

  • Monica Cross: Prom (short play)

What would happen if you could talk to a version of yourself from another time? PROM examines the "what ifs" of the Coronavirus Pandemic. David Hansen beautifully encapsulates the longing and loss and nostalgia for the never will be that permeates through our isolation. This show would work well for performance in Zoom or other virtual platform. A very powerful piece!

  • Monica Cross: Julie-esque

JULIE-ESQUE is a play everyone who work with Shakespeare should read. As Julie tries to navigate how the part of Juliet will be read on her body, her friend Laurence offers some very useful advice (unlike the Shakespearean character by the same name)! This play highlights the struggles trans women experience in everyday life, and the need to address them and work through them, and not avoid them because the conversation might be difficult. Ashley Lauren Rogers offers us a moment where the Bard might not be universal, and then gives us two powerhouse performers to tackle the dissonance!

  • Monica Cross: Awkward Robot's Instruction Manual For Dating Other Awkward Robots

AWKWARD ROBOT'S INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR DATING OTHER AWKWARD ROBOTS is a delightful play about the difficulties of navigating relationships. In this plays we are all awkward robots! Matthew Weaver peppers this play with clever puns and nostalgic references to classic science fiction. A wonderful two-hander, with an absolutely whimsical intermission! Yay Awkward Robots!
