  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Outgrowth

The pain that drives Alby, in this beautifully rendered character study, is pain we can all relate to, and Malone has done a great job maintaining the tension that drives this play forward to its inevitable end in order for us to recognize that pain and understand - to a greater extent than usual - what is generally incomprehensible to us all. Well done!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Still Born

Still Born is a complex puzzle of a play - the kind only Tedford Kendall could envision because it's clear he loves a complex puzzle - and here every facet fits to create an intense drama where the audience is the true jury, as we are invited to experience a mystery that plumbs the depths of human experience. Tedford Kendall is a master strategist, and this is a fascinating play.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Before Lesbians

Before Lesbians is a beautiful play that Gartner crafts with great skill. The characters are blessed with both internal and external conflicts that Gartner teases out line by line so that the characters have to reinvent themselves before our eyes. This transformation is both enchanting, exhilarating and heartbreaking. Read it, produce it, let it live on many stages. And may we all find ways to re-imagine ourselves inspired by this play.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: LIFE SUCKS

I loved this play when I saw it in NYC - and yes, I spoke back to it! It is so wonderful to see this re-imagining of Chekhov that invites the audience to be a part of the experience, and I was so moved by it. Posner's language is fantastic. There are arias here that any actor would be so excited to work on!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: SEEING EYE

Beautiful play that is very moving! It's hard to stop reading this play. I love the way Malakhow uses Jason's sense of smell to show us how he experiences the world and in particular Robbie. Seeing Eye provides us a strong understanding of two distinct relationships as they transform.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: THE GUEST AT CENTRAL PARK WEST

This play was first produced in 2007 and its ideas are so relevant and finally coming into fashion as white people are finally coming round to so much of the ugliness of white supremacy all around us. I hope more people will read this play and hear the truth of what statues like the one outside the American Museum of Natural History do and understand the significance of being surrounded by these outrageous hostilities. This play should be produced across the country - shame on the theatres that passed on this years back. What else is theatre for?

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: DREAM HOU$E

I love these two sisters and how different they are, and more than this, I love the specificity of this play! I can see it clearly every moment as it unfolds. Funny and touching and highly theatrical!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Everything Here Is So Delicious (short)

Ah, naturalism! NOT and yet it's so REAL, speaks so eloquently to the present moment as the world devolves around us, and I recommend this brilliant play for your next festival. I'll have mine ceviche-style, please!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Age Before Beauty

Wonderful gem of a play! There is the surprise of the concept, but the humor and the great lines - "I faked it. Every time." Land so perfectly! Hageman has a great ear and creates great characters. Love the older role for an older female actor! This would be a treat to see!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Drive

Drive feels so "this minute" because it's dealing with joblessness in the future that feels an awful lot like right now. It is prescient, but more than that, the despair is real. How we make meaning and feel valuable is one of those large questions that Yarchun addresses here with her marvelous ear for language, fabulous dialogue and so much poignancy.
