  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: MUD SEASON

I love the distinct languages of the characters, the structure, and especially the theatricality of MUD SEASON. I love the predicament of being transplanted, stuck, trying to find a place to breathe freely and discover you screwed up. There probably is no free breathing left in this country. I love the dead characters from the past and how they function in this play making an unexpected stunning ending that will be awesome to see onstage. MUD SEASON is a relevant, significant play about important environmental concerns, and it's also filled with flawed human characters that make it wonderfully...

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: I Am Nobody

A delightfully fun piece that provides a mythology and context for our current troubles. Saw this a week or so before lockdown and the hazmat suit at the top of the show was awfully prescient! Kotis's sensibilities toward the common people are on strong display here as Naomi and Nathanial barrel across this country mismatched and misunderstood. Hilarity ensues!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: My Heart is a Kaleidoscope (Waiting to be Turned) (1 minute play)

This would be so much fun to see staged! I wish it was longer! Very exciting play for many voices and bodies - quite ingenious and moving!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Give The People What They Want (seven plays for five actors)

Another night of hilarity by Greg Kotis! I remember this well. So well, I laugh just remembering it! Want some Covid distraction, read the sample! Enjoyable and totally Kotis-esque which is as it should be.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Mother Ever After - Monologue

Stunning, moving beast of a monologue/short play! Read it and produce it again and again! This brought tears to my eyes and made me feel more connected to my impossible traumatizing (and long dead) mother than I ever thought possible - thank you! What a gift this piece of writing is!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Yeast Nation (the triumph of life)

This is a fantastic play that begins in the primordial ooze and takes us through the history of evolution of yeasts/single-celled organisms that allows for an incredible amount of creativity in casting costuming and set design for a lot of people of any ages, and it is so much fun, and so bizarre, I can only say, if you ever get the opportunity to produce this or see this, DO IT! GO!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Venus and Mars

Love the big twist in the middle and then all the twists after that! Schwartz makes us sit up and pay attention to this ekfrastic play!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Cheryl Bear is Reading All of My Plays on the New Play Exchange ( a monologue)

She read all of mine too, ages ago, and I didn't consider writing a play about it, but this is hilarious and wonderful. If I wrote a play about it, it would be a dialogue, since I know Cheryl. I believe that she is really a playwright, and one day she will start posting her plays, and then we will all read her!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: A SAFE PLACE

Beautifully done and extremely powerful. The simplicity of what Carnes does here gives it power, the power of its inherent truth and horror, without need to embellish. We can all learn from this!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Firewater

Fascinating family drama that is filled with theatrical moments and interesting language. Marchant builds a mythological world where the stakes are high, and the images work together to create mystery and meaning. Well done!
