  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Rules of the Debate

    What an intense piece of theatrical magic! This is a great play that will keep even a teen's attention, doesn't talk down to anyone, and has so much in it to discuss from the meaning of G-d to the realities of gun violence and child abuse. Necessary and important without an ounce of preaching. Great work!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Why Didn't Kalinda Just Kill Nick?

    What we all want to know is how can we manage this crisis and keep our relationships together at the same time, and this play - by holding up the example of one relationship that should have been dissolved/destroyed/you name it shoulda happened to it and whatever - asks questions we can't ever have answers to while also showing us how to keep it together. Lovely and awesome. Thank you!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Chalk

    Wow. This play does so much in a very short space of time. Great roles for both actors! Would be a beautiful addition to any festival of shorts for the emotional punch this packs.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: To Saints and Stars

    Science and faith, old world values and the potential to imagine new ones, so much at stake - the future of the human race - written with great skill and grace. Beautiful work!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Punk Grandpa

    A super-fun, over-the-top, hugely heart-warming comedy that wins me over from the start and never lets up! I love that any moment is an opportunity to play or dance or sing, and I love the theatricality in the writing. What fun it would be to see performed with 1 or 6 or more actors! Highly producible!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: The Droll {Or, a Stage-Play about the END of Theatre}

    A play about the end of theatre feels particularly relevant, but do not be daunted! The Droll is fantastically entertaining and enjoyable and relatable beginning to end. It is large, historical, complex and Nim is a gentle soul who I was rooting for from the start, and I love Doll Cutpurse! It feels as if there are many more than 7 characters for Miroshnik creates an entire authoritarian society where, more than asking what evil would you do, The Droll shows us how people can be driven to do evil.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: How You Kiss Me Is Not How I Like To Be Kissed

    A lyrical play that seems so simple but unfolds to reveal the depths of a significant relationship that is so recognizably and relatably human. An absence of irony makes Giles a very open-hearted and sincere writer, and yet there is nothing sappy about this. With 2 great roles for actors!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: To Change a Tampon: How It Is, and How It Should Be

    Hageman is a National Treasure! To write a play such as this with its fabulous language fun and its dramatic excitement and theatricality is exactly what this country needs! Hageman to the rescue! Thank you Emily Hageman, even though I don't menstruate anymore ever, I love you for this, because so many female type things still do!!!!!!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Buried Roots

    This is wonderful work. I saw the taping at the Parsnip Ship and was incredibly moved by this unexpected tale. Johnson is great at grounding her work in a very real place where her characters face tough choices and high stakes. They make bad decisions and deal with consequences, and yet she manages to pull so much together at the end to offer us a unique and hopeful vision that remains grounded in what real life might hold.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Rights of Passage

    Wonderful work! This is an edge of your seat drama that never stops revealing itself. I highly recommend this play that does not flinch. Johnson's characters are clear and complex, and she provides great roles any actors would jump at the chance to play. This is an easily producible show that should be on all the stages across the country NOW!
