I loved this play that gives us a fascinating look into the birth of psychoanalysis, but mostly I enjoyed the storytelling moments of Berta's illness and her life. She is a very strong female historical figure, and it's wonderful to have a play about her life. Pasulka uses language masterfully to create a marvelous sense of the world and Berta's psyche. Highly recommended!

Sweet but there is also a darkness here that makes it real and true. Kudos!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Humin Meat Glass

So much gets packed into this beautifully written short play, I want it on repeat! Racism, Sexism, Oppression, People of Color dealing with the colorless, and all of it as allegory/fable/commedia/fantasy! The interpretations could abound! And the puns - I am jealous of the puns! Would be great for any director to enjoy!

As my dog bounces around with her toy I found this piece quite powerful and wholly dramatic! But then I'd probably not want to give any of what it is away because much of the drama was in the discovery of all that it is and experiencing it for oneself. Mesmerizing!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Wash Your Hands, You Moron

This play is about to blow up on FB! And it's so good, you'll be kicking yourself (like I am) going, "why didn't I think to write this?!" So read it and recommend it and then tape yourself performing it and post it already! What are you waiting for? (Ask Hageman first) the idea is to go all CORONA! I mean VIRAL!!!!

A gay mystery Victorian-style! So much fun! I love the language, and all the innuendo! I'm sure it would be a hoot for a Halloween or any time of year Festival. May it get its time on the boards when Covid-19 is vanquished!

Great lines! Including my newest favorite pun. Sweet short piece for today - read it! Produce it! Smile!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Survival Strategy

Wonderfully imaginative play that ramps up beautifully into its climactic moment to make a brand new world seem possible! Very optimistic, perfect for a Valentine's Short Play Festival. I hope it gets produced often!

Sure to become a classic in the new enlightened era! If only this was a period piece! Hoke has written a real send-up of our sexist culture complete with all the discomfort Chrissie can take - and the double twist at the end makes it a must-read!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Madwoman

Marvelous! I've always had a soft spot for the Madwoman of Chaillot, and this adaptation is so much fun! From the lack of toilet paper to the refugee crisis, it hits all the high notes of our time and is prescient! All the yucks get yucked, with a song to be sung! It's fun! I needed some fun today! And the oil (avocado or fracking, it's relevant) and slippery! And the costumes would be a blast! A wonderfully climate-aware play for all ages!
