  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Recess

I loved this play, but unlike many other recommendations here I found it to be a chilling, dystopian depiction shedding light on why relationships fail - our lack of decent role models, our inability to even imagine normalcy. But hey, that's just me! I liked it like that because not every father drinks milk. Great work!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: ANGELINA JOLIE IS STALKING ME

The title really called to me, but the play held me wrapt! What a fascinating premise! What a well-executed piece! And it's so do-able! She thinks she's the only one with lips like that - she's so wrong! This is a wonderfully theatrical mystery where every character wants something so much, we can't help but be spellbound.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Golden Record

I love that Lam creates an entire language (decipherable in footnotes) that would be a blast to perform! This play is meant to be seen - talk about holding up a mirror - the aliens are so human!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Three Ladybugs

What fun! This is a great meditation on the existence of a higher power in the guise of a comic play where the humans get to play gods! If I produced this, I would want to ask if I could cast and put the humans onstage, but it's also really fun having them be voices. Any director could have such a great time with this! And the roles are spectacular too! I've never wanted to be a bug before - and I do love bugs!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Daphne Becomes the Arctic

Brilliant! Out of this world wonderful! A must read and a must produce! I love the updating of the Daphne myth and how REAL Romero makes it because this happens all the time. We should be staging it, seeing it from every angle! Romero does a phenomenal job of centering Daphne's experience for us in a way where we can actually see it among the blinding white privilege and entitlement of so many. Thank you!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Santa's Dolphins

Gabridge really pulled me into this one and then wowed me with the beautiful metaphor! A must-read! A must-produce! Heart-warming! Funny rom-com of a holiday play! What more could anyone want????? Seriously on-message! It slices, it dices, I am totally impressed.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: EXPRESSION OF REGRET

Thank you, Judy Chu! And thank you Christine Toy Johnson for writing such a moving play that lets us have an experience of the hatred and racism Chinese-Americans have lived through and shows us the oppression that was (and is) fought (inside and out). Beyond that, it shows the triumph of survival. This play is complex in its structure in three times and places and characters and braids itself together to strengthen each story as a good braid does. Well done! May it have a long and well-produced life!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: My Aim is True

Beautiful work by Lucy Wang! She manages to do so much in such a short play. I got vivid scenes from Anna Mae's life and incredible tension in the moments of the play as the rising action works to keep me at the edge of my seat. This is so wonderfully written! And it's also such a timely, relevant and necessary play! I hope it is produced often!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Fathers and Daughter

Fathers is a wonderfully theatrical true story that uses the stage to show the many ways in which we are transformed by our experiences and how we can use them to create both negative and positive narratives. The roles are fantastic for both players, and this is a play I would love to see produced - a real game-changer! Beautifully written! Read it and produce it! An easily produced play for 2 actors with a brilliant pov!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Photos with my Rapist: A Two-Minute Monologue

I like the two minute version almost as much as the one minute version. The ending still packs a punch! And it's still surprising. Wonderfully written, totally relatable.
