When people wonder why the 10-minute play, we must all point them to this one! A feast! A philosophy! A slice of life so juicy and brilliant, I boggle at the mind of Tristen Canfield. What a wonderful play! I hope it lives a long well-produced life!

Sad play full of beauty. There are great roles for actors with moving scenes and monologue, and I was surprised how much I cared for each character. A well crafted play!

This is a wonderfully fun and theatrical dream of a play that has so many great lines, I want to quote them all! When Kavanaugh asks the judges (all women) do you know what it's like to always be judged, and they all shout YES - brilliant! So much fun - this would be fantastic onstage! Love the final dream sequence too.

Probably my favorite play ever of all the plays I've read on NPX, I want to hear this spoken aloud and see this staged. I want this play more in the world than anything in the world right now. Absent to herself, the protagonist tries desperately to reconstruct her past but being a female (non) person in this culture today, it is almost impossible to be anything except a toadstool. AND I FEEL EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. If you've ever wondered what women are about, what's up with us, read this play.

Here is a beautiful tribute to those lost from AIDS, a period piece (thank goodness), and a play with a love relationship at its center that is depicted with enormous attention and care. Sadness and grief and a love that makes it almost bearable. Great work!

Wonderful!!!!!!!! THIS is a play for playwrights (and other writers) to LOVE! I do! It is brilliant, moment by moment, Alterman reels us in and we are caught, forever, in his hilarious play! Read it! Produce it! Enjoy!

SOOOO theatrical!!! Very funny! The parents, the language, the time shifts, the attention to marvelous details! Wonder Woman-ish transformations! It is so irresistible I can't understand why it isn't done everywhere by everyone! This is timely, this speaks directly to my heart! And no one gets away! Tuft is ruthless in her examination of our culture via this incredibly entertaining piece. This should be produced now and often!

Fleitman gives us 4 distinct characters who really resonate in their individuality. The first scene is hilarious, yet I'm aware of the difficulty the parents are struggling with, and it feels quite real. The second scene activates all the things the first scene sets up in a very enjoyable way and is also moving at the end when - I won't give it away - it happens. Exposition is handled beautifully. The play also tracks the loss of the Jewish culture from the rabbi grandfather to the son who seems to be grasping at the last shards of his Jewishness.

What I really appreciated in Diamond's piece are the small details, the sensory work that she does with the smells in particular add to the fear that fills the piece and builds the tension. Wonderfully done!

Edit - after seeing it performed - it is even more powerful than I could have imagined! Wow!

This is a beautiful moving account of an origin search for belonging and identity, and Bachner does it with flair. I couldn't stop reading!
