  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: IN JUST A WHISTLE

I love the open way Stout presents the piece for so many voices and how abruptly the end comes creating such a terror out of joy! It could be done so many ways onstage. Stout clearly has a very strong sense of the theatrical!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: The Red Balloon

The first scene grips me and gets me to care deeply for these two women. It is a life and death high stakes scene at home, the kind of scene I wish I could write! And then the aftermath which is visual and poignant but I am unsure of the outcome. By the third scene I am laughing. By the last, let's just say everyone should read it. Everyone should produce it! Not so possible in this un-free country. We will know we are free when we can produce it everywhere!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: In Old Age

Here is an enormous journey in the space of a relatively brief amount of time that seems as if it took an entire lifetime to be able to happen in this space here and now. From the humor at first to the pathos and the intensity of Abasiama's purge we see a healing and a clearing and an opening that creates a space for hope. Wonderful work!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: runboyrun

This play shook me through and through and reminded me yet again how memory and trauma move through us in such human ways - I cried for us all. Thank you for writing such a moving and beautiful play that does not shy away from the terrors people live through and then hide from all over again.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: TOUCH THE MOON One Act Play, 3 Characters

This is such a powerful intense mystery that incorporates 3 characters all with the very highest of stakes! Rose is able to create some great builds and ratchets up the tension from beginning to end. You won't be able to put it down! This would be such a great theatrical play to see up on its feet. I hope it gets produced soon! Stunning!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: THE SANITY CLAUSET 10-minute holiday comedy

I love it when Bizarre Funny becomes Deeper Meaningful and The Sanity Clauset does that! It will be a big hit with the holiday festivals! Well done!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Something True

This play raises some great questions about what is true and what is the nature of truth. I really enjoyed how frustrated I felt thinking that Miki has the truth that Jo is looking for - but is that really true? A conundrum and a play that will remain in the mind long after the festival run.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Lost Season

This poignant piece has the beautiful addition of an actor playing a butterfly that adds so much theatricality and hope to the play without destroying the audience's sense of what's real and what's happening. The butterfly helps us in contacting our emotional lives and lets us enjoy a greater sense of loss along with the characters. Well done!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Black Santa

This is a great exploration of the dynamics of racism at work and will surely make audience members uncomfortable in the best of ways! Beardsley is able to carve whole three-dimensional characters in a very short piece without going into long speeches - his details and backstory are spot-on! This should be produced in many festivals!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Helen Keller Visits Martha Graham's Dance Studio

This is a very funny play from a hilarious concept that actually makes me think too, and I appreciate all of that! Kaplan gives us a chance to have 3 amazing strong women on stage in a very enjoyable play that should do well wherever it's done! Often I hope!
