I really hope to see this on a stage very soon. It is so easy to connect with these characters and the writer has made sure that the faces of those that play them are the ones that have been absent from mainstream media for so long. This is a play about Dominican people today and the ancestor's of their past and how things like courage and self-sacrifice are passed on through generations. This is the kind of story that is meant for the stage and reminds us of one of the theatre's main function which is telling human stories.

This a brilliant fast paced collection of moments in the lives 3 young afrolatinx people that confronts the place art has in their lives and the place for people like them in an art world that was not made for them. Taveras is boldly experimenting with naturalistic scenes, poetic ensemble moments and visual art in ways that I have seen very few others playwrights do. Definitely not this effectively. This is a play that needs to be produced and this conversation about who art is for needs to be happening.

The questions Del Rosso is asking about toxic men and the possibility of rehabilitation is engrossing and makes this play one that all theatres focused on diving into the deep cracks of the human condition should consider producing. It also works as a great workplace comedy at times too and Tess has become one of my favorite audience surrogate characters that I have recently come across. Please read this play and make sure it’s produced everywhere.

  • Shaun Leisher: DERECHO

These are the stories that need to be told today. The blending of fantasy and naturalism works so well and perfectly represents the conflicting worlds Latinx so often need to inhabit at all times. This is a memory play that’s as good and better than anything by O’Neill and Williams that is so often performed and just needs to die already!!! These characters and their voices are critical to the American story but they have been absent from our stages. Fix that by producing this play!!!

I really can't wait to see this play on its feel with actors. It's a puzzling piece of theatre that will create endless post-show conversations. I really connected with the relationship we have with our stuff and how we often expect these inanimate objects to grow and evolve like we do and prove their continued worth. Loved this play. Gonna be thinking about this one for awhile.

  • Shaun Leisher: if we don’t have sex i’m gonna die

This is a hilarious fantasy play about how sex is built up and over-prepared for but in the end can’t salvage disappointing relationships. I loved the body part gags and how the relationship between these two teens and evolves in such an absurd yet relatable way.

The playwright perfectly captures the confusion and false memories that can come up when loved ones pass on. It's a play about grief in it's own bizarre way but also about finding connection. I loved the pacing of this play and dialogue. Really a piece that three actors can make a meal out of.

  • Shaun Leisher: The Cult of Domina

I truly have not seen the rise of Nazi Germany looked at from this perspective. It's truly fascinating to see these men who are trying to lead a dominant force go to a place where they themselves are dominated. That dominance is really all an illusion though. The women may be doing the violence but the men are always in control. This play looks at the evils in humanity and contains not much hope but the story of these complex women need to be told. Please produce this play.

  • Shaun Leisher: unadjusted aka milk is dairy days are daily

A play that blends naturalism and absurdity as it explores the coming age of two best friends that are trying to figure out their sexuality and what it takes to fit in. Lassman has a real skill at authentically portraying a subset of teenage boys in all their gross behavior and misogyny. You really pray that these boys grow up to be good people but you can't help to feel for them just as they are in this play. I would definitely love to see what a 5 Years Later play would look like for these characters.

A really interesting and compelling short two hander. These are some really complicated characters actors will have a blast digging in to.
