This play is sooooo timely!!! Bring this to your theatre and make white liberals ponder over how they often take over the fight for justice and how their good intentions doesn’t outweigh misguided actions. Brilliant setting!!!

I absolutely loved how much imagination and heart fills this play. Can't wait to see an uber creative director and actor take on this piece.

  • Shaun Leisher: Oh We Gon Slay

This almost feels like a superhero origin story and I really want to see more of Greta as she goes to fulfill the promise she makes at the end of this play!!!

  • Shaun Leisher: Synchronicity

This play is basically an attempt to answer the whole meaning of life question but it's done in such an interesting way. It's a play that shows how tragedy can connect and cause bonds to form. Wonderful play with great roles for women of various ages.

  • Shaun Leisher: Deux Femmes on the Edge de la Revolution

The sex and violence are palpable on every page of this play. It's a play about slavery that in no way sets out to make audiences (especially white audiences) feel comfortable. It makes you confront an awful part of history that still has repercussions today and asks questions that need to be considered during any period of revolution. Where are the companies with the courage to produce an epic piece of theatre that feels so of the moment? Love how the playwright refuses to shy way from unique production elements that could be complex or simple but require great imagination.

  • Shaun Leisher: To Saints and Stars

The fraught relationship between science and religion is certainly nothing new to the theatre but this is such a fresh take on that theme. Huge questions are being asked in this play is at its heart a character study of two women that had a strong bond as children but went in different directions as adults. This play shows that people of science and faith are complimentary of each other and have so many similarities. The way this play is structured between locations and time is absolutely brilliant. PRODUCE THIS PLAY!!!

  • Shaun Leisher: Pizza Hut Heartbreaker

Wowwwwwww. This play hit deep for me. I know these people. I've worked this job. The playwright really captures the family that is made from a workplace but also the terror of being stuck at a job. This is no stereotypical look at the service industry and these characters are so nuanced with individual reasons for staying at the job that are so complex. The passage of time and the way the scenes are organized as a sort of routine is so effective. PRODUCE THIS PLAY!!!

  • Shaun Leisher: Lipstick Lobotomy

Wow this play really blew me away!!! It's hysterical and heartbreaking in the ways it delves into what women in these facilities went through and that timeless desire (particularly for women) to fit in. The ways this play explores class and the patriarchy so deeply speaks to today. One of the most authentic looks at a female friendship I've read in a play in awhile.

  • Shaun Leisher: Spotting

Wooooo. This was a really well written play but it was tough to read. This world of competitive dance is pretty foreign to me but this play is written in a raw and brutal way that I truly don't doubt it's authenticity. There could have been many different approaches to this subculture and I think the characters Kane chose to focus on made this a really gripping and focused play.

I never knew I needed an uber-gory parody of John Cariani's Almost Maine until I read this play. Yes the corniness of Almost Maine is properly lampooned but this play also proves to have a lot of affection for the source material. Also, Kane does a great job at veering from sentimentality and writing a play about the parts of love that make us cringe. I can't wait to see this play produced with all its bloody goodness very soon!!
