A fascinating play in real time during a yoga session that features two men on a quest for self improvement. Brilliant dialogue and really beautifully paced.

  • Shaun Leisher: this party sucks

A highly theatrical play that dives deep into the themes of fame, sexism and living in someone’s shadow. Levitsky-Weitz has crafted a character in Cleo that is so layered and unapologetic. It’s a role of a lifetime for a 30 something actress. This play and the relationships that are beautifully and honestly portrayed in it will stay with me for a long time. This play needs to be produced!!

  • Shaun Leisher: Gehinnom

i feel like it’s so rare that I find myself truly surprised by a direction a play goes so that when it happens I fall hard for it. This is one of those plays. Also it’s about memory so it’s really up my alley. And it features three killer roles for women of various ages. A ghost story told about trauma that will haunt audiences.

  • Shaun Leisher: Faith

Matt Barbot is brilliant at taking felt-board Sunday School stories and finding the humanity of it. This play feels like it was ripped from my brain when I find myself questioning the goodness of God. Some may call this blasphemy but I feel it is how the Bible should be approached. We should be able to take this ancient text with its problematic stories and imagine the humanity that filled these characters we have come to know through songs and picture books. Barbot reveals a true skill for giving those that wrestle with the Bible a place to feel heard.

  • Shaun Leisher: Trash Lord: Domestication

We need more plays that look at humanity from a scientific lens. Heinecke bares herself for this piece and it's an absolute thrill on the page (as I'm sure it is on stage) to witness her process of discovering herself and relating her experiences. Also super brilliant use of audience interaction.

  • Shaun Leisher: Why I

A play about trauma, memories and what is past on to children. A play that really looks at how we reconcile with our families. The good and the bad. Epic in theme but so intimate and raw.

  • Shaun Leisher: Trash Lord:

This is an absolutely incredible solo piece about gender performance and the trash we accumulate as humans. Heinecke's stream of conscious approach feels both effortless and meticulously plotted. This is such a crucial voice in today's theatre.

  • Shaun Leisher: Solo: An American Choreopoem

A piece of theatre that will leave audiences so much to ponder. A choreopoem with an incredible role for a female artist that speaks on where the commodification of art is heading. Really fascinating and beautifully written piece that I can't wait to see staged.

  • Shaun Leisher: A New Kind of Whole

Paige Zubel's voice is so vital and the story being told here is one that needs to be told more on our stages. It really embraces the medium of theatre and features really compelling characters that provide quality roles for non-binary artists. I am really excited to see this play develop.

  • Shaun Leisher: Monsters Are Made

When a horrific act is perpetrated is forgiveness possible? Is reconciliation possible? Is true justice possible? These questions and so many more are asked in this thrilling two hander set in a world where time and the laws of physics are in flux. It's a play for the #MeToo era that I believe will last. Picking up the pieces and making sense of things when ultimate betrayal comes from loved ones will never not be a human issue. I'm just glad there are plays like this one that brings it to the light and makes us face it head on.
