  • Lee R. Lawing: Words Fail Me

I like to discover new writers and this monologue was my play of the day and what a monologue. Everyone has those moments where you feel you just can't take another minute of the never ending moments of life that require a question, or push, or your help and Della has tried to take a week all to herself without those distractions or interruptions pretty much like Della's life till now, it doesn't go the way she had hoped or planned.

  • Lee R. Lawing: DANI Q: A MONOLOGUE

Wyndham's monologue hits you hard and speaks so much of the culture of our workplace that for a lot of people is still a very real one where toxic masculinity rules and woman are still considered second class without a voice or rights or say in what happens to them. One would hope the VR world would be a safe place, a place where everyone could find adventure that's far removed from the harsh realities of our own world.

  • Lee R. Lawing: hometown

There's always a little bit of yourself in everything a writer writes, but with Jonte's splendid and oh so touching "hometown," you can see a little into this wonderful author's soul and you're ripped from emotion to emotion as you read this wonderful piece of art that's worth more than just one visit. I feel it is one that when performed will give the actor and audience a kaleidoscope of emotions and colors.

  • Lee R. Lawing: 20 Questions: a found monologue

My first reaction was to go and find out what the most popular google search was for today, and my second was like, damn, why do I care about that. Simple in design and yet makes you realize how attached we are to technology and connection to the world which is at our fingertips. Literally.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Doll Hospital

This is a delightfully funny and very dark comedy about sex dolls which will bring a smile to your face more than once, but underneath the humor, there is that darker edge that talks a lot about our inability to connect to real people and how much easier it is to not connect with anything that's not fake.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Deaths Messengers

We are on the clock as soon as we are born and Stevens beautiful adaption of this fairy tale is so beautiful and so well done. It is a tale that I wasn't familiar with and so enjoyed this play for that reason but also the poetry of the language and cadence of the those speaking.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Dirk Savagewood and the Mad Scientist

I was instantly taken back in time and listening with such anticipation in front of the radio where gun shots can shock you with just enough scare and you are always rooting under your breath for the hero to get out of his jam. Classic indeed.

  • Lee R. Lawing: That Winning Feeling

I always think of the "Dinas" in the world as having been manufactured in the Stepford Wives Corporation where appearances are far more important than the actuality of just living your life as it comes. Feeny-Williams paints a perfect picture of injustice that always lurks behind any Leave it Beaver neighborhood that tries to hard to keep the paint from chipping.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Super Mythology Girl Tells a Scary Story

Saw this play read on Tiny Theatre as part of the summer sassy shorts and it was so sassy indeed. Mythology should always be taught with puppets.

  • Lee R. Lawing: PROPAGATION

I always know when I read anything by Carnes, I will be getting something that's both poetic and so raw that your heart will break with the injustice that's been done to those who were here before all of these "explorers" discovered this land in the name of their god and their rules and and those same ones who don't want to let it go even now. This democracy definitely needs a make-over and it would be nice if those in power would see the wisdom of what we could become if they could just let go of the reins.
