  • Lee R. Lawing: Suburban Zombie Princess

How could I pass up a title like this and in the hands of Floyd-Priskorn, it's a winner all the way. I love the heart and soul in this piece and what a reminder for us all to remember, if you haven't walked in someone's shoes, then you can't really say anything disrespectful. Just like a saying I saw today in social media, someone today may just need a bit of kindness. I'm here to give this zombie princess a little of that and a friendly hug before she turns of course.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Mission Trip [A One-Minute Play]

Oh these white Christians. Who will save all of us who know better about the bill of goods religion offers and the awful price that is is paid by anyone who falls for their teachings or ideas. Gonzalez nails all that is wrong with the white Christian belief system where they think that their god is a white one who has OK'd them to think everyone not white is a piece of crap and not fit for anything except deportation, or to be shot or not clothed or fed or sheltered or killed without real remorse as God will forgive.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Group/Text

My partner is always asking me with group texts "didn't you read the text?" and most time I can't lie and just admit, no, or I got bored or intermediated by the number of messages and so this play had me laughing from the very start. I love the way there are two actors for each character, one for the person and the other for the text. Used in the right way, texts can simplify life, but lesson learned of the horror story that can happen when broken hearts come into play! Bravo emoji!

  • Lee R. Lawing: 997 Pieces

This was a joy to read and I used to see some similar battles at my Mom's assisted living place over what seemed like the most innocent of things like Bingo. I love the idea of high school kids playing the elderly people as it speaks a lot about personalities sort of being cemented at the younger age and never really changing much as we progress through this little thing called life. That desire to win at games never goes away. A brilliant ending and one that had me cheering for my favorite of the three men.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Fireworks or Gunshots

Thomas holds nothing back in this powerful reflection on America and what it means to be in this country at this time. Gun violence shouldn't be the way it is or the new normal or all of us just sitting and waiting until what happens in Highland Park finally happens in our little part of this country. We were all glued to the television that day watching this unfold, trying to piece together what it really meant and also trying not to become desensitized to this blight that's spreading like a wildfire unchecked.

  • Lee R. Lawing: POOPER: A PhD CANDIDATE MONOLOGUE

We all have that secret spot where it's just easier to process things be it crying or reading or pooping. As with all of Wyndham's work, there are layers upon layers that peel away as our Pooper asks to be let into the stahl and the more we learn, the more we can understand her need to find a place that she can call her own where she can be alone and process what's happened to her on this day like any other day with one big exception.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Reconnaissance

If aliens ever do reconnaissance on our planet I want the SIG and PIE to do that. This plays speaks a lot about hierarchies in any given situations, traditional gender roles and also a shout out to help save our world from it’s untimely doom. In a word, boo-tiful.

  • Lee R. Lawing: A Crooked French Affair

Somewhere deep down you always feel that there's a hope your play is being looked at and really considered for a slot in a festival. I love the energy of this play. From the ingenious beginning where a computer virus has wiped out the entries of the play festival to the irreverent tone it takes toward community theater and egos, and oh, yes, all the while just incredibly funny and spot on with it's digs of the fragility of life and theater and playwrights and actors and the love that we all have for them all.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Cookies for Bethany

Most of us will face a neighbor or two in our lives. They are like death and taxes, unavoidable. Martin gives us a very dark and funny play abut the benefits of neighbors and the downfall. Do yourself a favor and add this one to your library!
