  • I THINK IT'S A WHALE
    15 Jul. 2021
Funny take on the Groundhog Day premise with a married couple caught up in a time loop. What makes it so funny is knowing that so many our conversations with others are often repeated with phrases like "I may have told you this before, " or "I probably told you this already," that you start to feel just like Barbara and Bert on their cruise. We could all use a little interruption like George provides.

This would be so great to see at any one-minute festival. Clever and very well executed. Any audience member would be left in awe!
  • Black Jesus
    15 Jul. 2021
Black Jesus shows Christianity the way I wish I could have learned it. My Jesus was certainly white thanks to all the pictures of him in our church, but I am a gay man so for me, my Jesus was gay on top of that, but of course that was not liked by my church or their teachings. Decius presents a lot with this short comedy and does it so well, that it almost has me longing again for the wonders that the Son of God has to offer!
  • THE UNDERSTUDY
    15 Jul. 2021
Brilliant monologue about a person who usually is heard a few times in their careers, but poor Malcolm is never allowed on stage once in all of his time as an understudy to Sir Giles. We are drawn into Malcolm's world of heartache and revenge and we the reader and audience are left breathless with his final word which is so defiant and brings about much closure for us the reader and I hope for man who never got his chance to dazzle the stage.

I always enjoy the humor in Diamond's plays. Even those ones which are more serious always have that spark that is hers. There's nothing like finding a common enemy to bring people together and Palak Paneer has this in the end but what holds this play together is the humor and how different people's perceptions are who are in the same space as you. Life is truly a joyous journey.
  • Zoom Caste

This is a great time capsule of how much of the 2020 went, especially those early months of lock-down and not being able to go anywhere. And everyone was affected by this lock-down in so many ways, but having co-workers who lived in New York City, their biggest complaint on some of those early calls was that feeling of being trapped in their small space without anywhere to go or air to breathe. Diamond captures those early days of the pandemic so perfectly with Zoom Caste!
  • THE LAST DATE

What a great play that pulls you along from the very start and won't let your emotions go. Glad this was my play of the day today. Goldman-Sherman's writing is so full of energy that you are caught up in this assault without even realizing it and so glad that when it's over, Alyssa is still there and fighting for a new beginning just like she deserves.

Beautifully written ode to love! This would have been a great one to see live on stage. Bravo!
  • Hey

This brings back a lot of memories. Most of them good. There was nothing like looking at a Calvin Klein model on the boxes of underwear. And if we weren't gay before seeing them, most of us who had the right wiring were certainly gay afterwards. Hey paints such a picture with young Wade just coming into his own sexuality and the shopping for underwear with his mom is priceless as it is embarrassing for us to read about it. Like I said, a lot of memories. Most of them very good.
  • DIFFICULT MONKEYS

Relationships, no matter the pairing, are always hard and a work in progress. This fourth installment of the Sock Monkey series by Carnes gives us a beautiful and funny take on one that's hit that fork in the road where big decisions need to be made. Sometimes relationships remain there at the fork and this play captures that moment so perfectly.
