  • Arianna Rose: NIGHT OF A THOUSAND SIPS

A tension-filled monologue that will have you rooting for Wendy. To sip or not to sip is the question; a potentially deadly decision when you are a recovering alcoholic. Playwright Charles Scott Jones expertly keeps us on the edge of our casino stools as we internally scream at Wendy to put the drink down. The craft in this monologue will make it a joy for anyone to perform or direct.

  • Arianna Rose: MAKING MYTH

I am remarkably invested in the ice cream in the car.
Playwright Charles Scott Jones crafts an absurdist comedy that twists and turns while staying in line. Wonderfully inventive, filled with well-defined characters who would be a blast to portray. All hail the Monkey King and Charles Scott Jones!
Seriously, was there ice cream in the car?

  • Arianna Rose: SPATSY KLOTZ

You had me at the name Spatsy Klotz. I marvel at playwright Charles Scott Jones' imagination and craft. This monologue will take you on a wild ride. Authentic dialogue, painful recognition, and - Moo. Read and perform or produce! A master class in monologue writing.

  • Arianna Rose: SECOND TIERS

As someone who strives every day to be one of the kind, caring people, I absolutely adored SECOND TIERS. I love backstories for literary characters and Playwright Glenn Alterman has knocked it out of the park with Jimmy and Robin. I particularly adored the reveal for Lois Lane! As a South Floridian I appreciate the Key West setting; as a human, I appreciate Glenn's deft dialogue, and beautiful message. Read and produce! No big secret why this was a published as Best 10-minute play of 2012!

  • Arianna Rose: Connection

it's those moments of connection with another human being that bring humanity to humans. Playwright Debra Cole does a beautiful job with that in her short play Connection. Two very relatable characters on a walk. In one short minute they bring up many hot button issues around a single topic. I particularly loved the sharing of an artist's work - furthering those connections we make with others. This is such a rich piece for actors.

  • Arianna Rose: The Puzzle

I love love love when inanimate objects come to life (well, except for scary dolls and clowns) and I love love love Jennifer O'Grady's body of work, so this is a match made in my own personal nirvana. So imaginative and clever. A simple concept that reinforces that we are all connected...and trying to communicate, with varying results. i'll have to start talking to the words in "Connections" at the NYT. Maybe that will help. Can't hurt, and neither can reading this fantastic play!

  • Arianna Rose: Taking the A Train, a 10-minute play

Playwright Susan Middaugh has delivered a taut, tense, terrific ride on the A Train. A born and bred New Yorker, I related to so much of this and can testify to its authentic feel. But you don't need to have ever taken the NYC subway to relate to the dramatic premise, the relationship between these characters, and the escalating conflict. Read and produce this stunner of a short play.

  • Arianna Rose: Three Husbands (Monologue)

Paul Donnelly writes with great understanding, compassion and humor about widowhood, hard-won wisdom, and loss. As a widow myself from my second marriage, I deeply connected to this fantastic monologue and can say it resonates with truth. What a wonderful monologue for an actor, and a treat for any audience to experience.

  • Arianna Rose: 2 Long Term Dads Looking . . . .

Lee Lawing has a knack for writing relatable characters in believable situations. Everything is on point here - the two men, the social media references, and the story. Fun twist at the end in this short and succinct tale of how families of all kinds come to be. Lawing expertly brings Ian and Charles to life with sharp dialogue. 2 Long Term Dads Looking...would be a wonderful addition to any festival.

  • Arianna Rose: SCARS (a monologue)

I have the great privilege of knowing the playwright and this story. Marj O'Neill-Butler writes with searing clarity, spareness, and lack of sentimentality, which makes SCARS all the more affecting. A truly magnificent monologue. As someone who was also caregiver to a husband who suffered a stroke, O'Neill-Butler writes with great truth and dignity. Everyone can relate to the internal scars we carry around. Bravo.
