  • Arianna Rose: Two Cats Explain the Monstrous Moth Group

You had me at "Two Cats"! A hysterical play that is so visceral - I could see it staged as I was reading it. The humor and theatricality are off the charts. I particularly loved the differences between Parvati and Omi. Playwright Ian Thal has crafted a play that will delight and keep you thinking long after the last meow.

  • Arianna Rose: Picking Your Nose

A heartwarming short play that's not too 'on the nose' about self-acceptance, loving what is unique about yourself, and the connections that can grow from that (unlike Pinocchio!) Playwright Bruce Karp writes with sensitivity, humor and a keen sense of the theatrical. Who can resist a play with Barbra as a character!

  • Arianna Rose: OLIVE and POPPY

A delightful short play about much more than a haircut! You'll identify with Olive and Poppy and how sisters-in-law navigate a relationship. You'll definitely want to have a scone or cookie after reading this one. Playwright Lynn Millar writes women characters with empathy and authenticity.

  • Arianna Rose: Senior Prom

Best closing line ever! I'm a huge fan of any play that can work in "hamantaschen" and now I'm hungry for one. Thanks a lot, Robert Weibezahl. I had the great pleasure of hearing this play workshopped in our writers group. You'll have great empathy for both Deborah and Mike as they reminisce and possibly lay the foundation for their friendship to resume. An unexpected twist keeps this play firmly rooted in the present and causes the audience to examine our own preconceptions. Fantastic title too! Read, produce, and go find a Jewish bakery!

  • Arianna Rose: Miss Shakespeare

One of the things I most love about playwright Dan Taube's body of work is that each play is surprising. I never know where it's going to go or what's going to happen next. His gift for engaging audiences - and readers - also aligns with an inevitability about what does transpire. Miss Shakespeare is no exception. I particularly love the back and forth between the two worlds, the women-empowered theme of the play, and the delightful humor. Read and produce it!

  • Arianna Rose: Billy and the ADHD

A fantastically creative and heart-tugging play about being a teenager, being in the outliers of society, and ADHD. Lovely twist at the end. Playwright Mark Mulkerin has crafted a piece that is universal in scope yet beautifully specific to Billy. The imaginative structure to the play only adds to the delight. Read and produce immediately!

  • Arianna Rose: still small voice

A taut, tense thriller that will keep you guessing - and gasping - till the last page. Kudos to playwright Jennifer O'Grady, who writes with such compassion for her women characters, even when they commit terrible acts. The sparseness of the dialogue, the evocative setting of New York City, the slow reveal of Janie's story - and the multiple twists along the way will keep you engaged till end of play. I can't wait to see this produced.

  • Arianna Rose: Where Illusions End

An absolutely gorgeous and original play about the many different kinds of magic we create in our lives, in our relationships, in our work, and in saying goodbye. I had the great good fortune to read this play in a writers group and became an instant Mark Mulkerin fan. You will too. Cam and Alex, faced with the very serious issue of their mother's imminent demise, craft a plan that will be Alex's greatest magic trick. Filled with fantastic lines, and read-between-the-lines. A must-read and must-produce!

  • Arianna Rose: Blitzen Sneezes! (A Reindeer Play) - Suitable for Live Performance or Audio

A very funny - and punny - fresh take on a well-travelled topic. Blitzen Sneezes! is sure to be a hit on the holiday circuit, whether over the airwaves or on a stage. So many laugh-out-loud moments. Playwright Robert Wiebezahl beckons the child in all of us. Hallelujah!

  • Arianna Rose: Just An Old-Fashioned Love Song

I had the good fortune to hear JUST AN OLD-FASHIONED LOVE SONG read in our writers group. Like walking through an antiques shop, this play is filled with delightful treasures. A banjo clock! A loveseat! A piano! Playwright Philip Middleton Williams masterfully uses dramatic irony in the story to connect these objects to a much-loved children's story. Brilliant. Some laugh-out-loud and poignant moments make this play a must-read. Would absolutely love to see it performed!
