It's such a genius idea to take a well-known literary character and give them a whole new back story- or forward story. Playwright Dan Taube is more than up for task, crafting a fabulous, laugh-out-loud ten-minute comedy that will be a hit on the festival circuit. I had the great pleasure to hear this play read in our writers group. I particularly love the twist at the end - comic gold. Read and produce immediately before the creature comes after you!

  • Arianna Rose: A Long Overdue Talk With Henry

John Busser's brain should be preserved and studied in future generations for the brilliance it possesses. The sheer imagination of this piece takes my breath away. Hysterically funny and also profound. As a recent widow of almost two years, I related to so much of this piece (well, not the bucket, but...) Busser has so perfectly captured widow's fog and widow's rage. The juxtapositions between the sweet presentational dialogue and the bucket shenanigans is worth the price of a ticket alone. Read it and please produce this!!

  • Arianna Rose: The Jeopardy! Problem

An absolutely beautiful piece about how each human being is unique, bringing something special to their job and the planet; and each relationship has an expiration date. I really enjoyed spending time with Rae and Lyon and The Jeopardy Problem and would have been happy to hang out with them while we all watched Alex Trebek. Playwright Austin Hendricks has written a well-crafted play, filled with nuance and subtext and the perfect ending.

  • Arianna Rose: Neighbor! Neighbor!

A very funny short play, Neighbor! Neighbor! has a fantastic twist at the end. A delight for actors to play and for a director to block, Playwright Bhattacharya has created a humorous poke at community relations. A 'jewel' of a play that will keep you laughing.

  • Arianna Rose: The Not So Comfortable Interview

A laugh-out loud piece with a twist at the end I didn't see coming. Playwright Kitty Harper deftly skewers toxic corporate culture in this dark satire. Would love to see this play performed, or better yet, part of every corporate training seminar!

  • Arianna Rose: Midler on the Roof

As a huge Bette-Yvette -Annette fan, bigger even than the Sarge's wife, I was laughing non-stop at this farce. The Divine Miss M has always had a larger than life persona, and playwright John Busser nails it in this absurd comedy. Shoes will rain down, googling will commence, and all will be well up until the final twist. From the title to the last line - a hoot. Read and produce this gem!

  • Arianna Rose: Playgroup (monologue)

To know Jennifer O'Grady's writing is to love Jennifer O'Grady's writing, and Playgroup is no exception. O'Grady vividly and expertly sets the scene of a mommy and baby playdate group, and lets some truth bombs fly. The details are delicious, and weary moms everywhere will be nodding their heads in agreement at every line. A clever twist at the end deftly sums up the balancing act and pro/con lists every mother has in her head. A fantastic monologue.

  • Arianna Rose: Lady Business (from the THE WRINKLE RANCH AND OTHER PLAYS ABOUT GROWING OLD collection)

A hysterically funny, razor-sharp satire of certain human biological processes. I loved every minute of this play, having passed through all these stages into the year-round white pants wearing gang. Playwright Debra Cole expertly crafts a comedy that contains some thought-provoking lines and concepts in-between the laughs.

  • Arianna Rose: October Surprise (Ten Minute Version)

"c'mon, baby, let's do the twist!" Playwright Robert Weibezahl writes twists like the writer warrior he is, and October Surprise is a doozy. Lauren, Jessica, and the entire story will rivet you. Kudos to Robert Weibezahl for once again crafting a taut ten, eminently readable and produceable.

  • Arianna Rose: Out of the Woods

I have the good fortune to be in the writers room with playwright Robert Wiebezahl as he continues to workshop this play. With each iteration it becomes even more mystical, intriguing, and the best kind of theatre - filled with space for the audience's imagination. You'll be deeply invested in Orfie and Mercy and won't want the play to end. Read it and celebrate this fantastic story from a writer I deeply admire.
