  • Clara the Christmas Tree Angel (ten-minute play)
    8 May. 2023
As Clara aptly states, "Delish!" A lovely short play about reclaiming Christmas as your own after a painful breakup. Playwright Enid Cokonos hits all the right notes in this holiday-themed play about moving forward and creating new memories. It's no surprise it's gotten productions - a fantastic addition to any theatre festival!
  • Sticks and Stones
    1 May. 2023
I had the great good luck of watching this play be workshopped in our writer's group and am the richer for it. Engaging characters, a gripping story, and crackling dialogue make Sticks and Stones a timeless and timely play. As an educator I related to so much in this piece; as a human, everyone will! Read and produce this latest gem from playwright Dan Taube.
  • Tree Hugs
    1 May. 2023
a beautiful, moving play about what it's like to be a sentient being on this earth. I'm so glad I found this play and hope everyone on earth will read it. Father-son dynamics, insight into the tree network, both funny and heartbreaking, Tree Hugs will have you going on a nature walk before you know it. Just watch out for the pine cones!
  • The Play by ChatGPT in the style of Michele A Miller about ChatGPT writing a play about the writer Michele A Miller
    14 Apr. 2023
I am furiously typing this recommendation surrounded by crumpled paper and coffee cups. I am furiously...
Playwright Michele Miller has written a spot-on satire about AI and playwrights. As a playwright with she/her pronouns I winced quite a few times at the painful truths in this play, and laughed out loud at other times. This would be a hoot to stage and to see. Best title of the week!
  • 1 in 30 million (a monologue)
    6 Apr. 2023
As a vegan, I approve of this lobster tale. As a writer, I applaud the considerable gifts of playwright Lee R. Lawing, who's imagination cannot be contained inside any fish tank. A delightful and apparently true story, told in first person by a reliable crustacean! Read and produce.
  • TWO LADIES IN BLACK HEADING TOWARD A BENCH (a short comedy)
    4 Apr. 2023
A wonderful short play that is about so much more than what it seems. Uproariously funny, followed by the most poignant moments. You'll want to go with Susie on all her jaunts. Just bring a zip-lock baggie! Another excellently-crafted work by Marj O'Neill-Butler, who so deftly writes older women characters with compassion, humor, and laser-sharp wit. Read and produce!!
  • Dragonflies
    2 Apr. 2023
Wow. Every audience should have a copy of the script - or the play should be performed twice in a row - so that the second reading or viewing, you can catch all the clues. A brilliant piece of writing, and the best kind of writing, that seems to be about one thing but is really about something much, much bigger. Dragonflies will haunt you for a long time and make you long for the sunshine and 'before'.
  • Bar Mitzvah Boy
    9 Mar. 2023
I've had the good fortune to hear this play read and workshopped in our Plays on Purpose writers group, and it is a gem. Playwright Bruce Karp beautifully evokes Larry's world, mishpocha, mitzvahs and all. A beautiful coming of age/came of age story deeply rooted in Jewish traditions. Mazel tov!
  • DANCING WITH UNICORNS-a very short play
    9 Mar. 2023
A hysterically funny, all-too-authentic short play about a mother who is constantly bombarded by the demands of her children and husband. Realism and non-realism partner in a pas de deux which will both delight and having you shake your head in recognition. Read and produce immediately! A treat for actors and audiences.
  • The Meadow - 10 Minute Play
    25 Feb. 2023
A tour de force for two women, with all the satisfying twists and turns of the genre. Playwright Ryan Kaminski brilliantly merges past and present in this homage to murder mysteries. Great roles for women actors and crisp and evocative dialogue make this a particular pleasure to read. Would love to see this performed!
