  • Arianna Rose: Women Like Us

I had the good fortune to watch this play evolve in our writers group. Playwright Dan Taube's innate skill to create complex, nuanced, relatable women characters is something I greatly admire. You'll have compassion for all the characters in this beautiful gem of a play. Women Like Us deserves to be seen by everyone and my hope is for a slew of productions!

  • Arianna Rose: Textual Abuse

What a smart, witty, extremely relatable play for those both waiting for a text back or those being deluged. Textual Abuse would work so well either in person or on zoom, and I really liked playwright Cindi Sansone-Braff's notes to perhaps have different groups of actors perform this in a row. Some great creativity - and research- went into this play. In many ways it's a parable for our times, where instant communication means sometimes nuance and critical thinking get left behind. I'd write more, but BRB - the kitty needs to be fed! ROTFLMAO at Textual Abuse.

  • Arianna Rose: A DOUBT MY PLAY (10-minutes)

Master playwright Glenn Alterman takes a familiar trope and makes it his own, creating a three-act play in ten minutes with twists, turns and a lovely, heartstring-tugging ending. I loved A DOUBT MY PLAY. I laughed so hard at the Nile/religious play section. Every playwright in a writers group can relate to this play, and even if you are not a playwright, you'll relate to the internal and external doubts everyone has when working on a creative project. This play has been winning all the awards and garnering productions and it's easy to see why. No 'doubt' about it!

  • Arianna Rose: Siege Ready

A fun and funny play about preppers, castles, marriage dynamics, and castles! Terrific twist at the end. Playwright Rex McGregor has created a well-crafted short play that satisfies on every level. I was fortunate enough to catch a live reading of this as part of the Celtic Calling Festival 2024. Would love to see this performed on stage, or even better, in an actual castle!

  • Arianna Rose: CUBIST RODEO CLOWNING

I love absurdist plays, and if it's got a heap of physical comedy, even better. Cubist Rodeo Clowning checks all the boxes and then some. A terrific twist ending and last line, really unique characters, and yet a relatable premise for many. I loved the vacuum monologue. Playwright Charles Scott Jones has an original mind that writes truly unique, memorable plays, and we're all the better for it. Giddy-AP!

  • Ahh, look at all the lonely people...except I have a feeling Ellie won't be lonely anymore after Mackenzie sits at her table. Playwright Claudia Haas writes teenagers as if she still inhabits the skin of one, and we're the luckier for it! A totally authentic and charming moment in the lunchroom between two people who don't fit the normative. Poetry in motion, literally. Read and produce!

  • First of all, what a GENIUS idea to create a series of plays based on Beatles Song Titles. Secondly, this is a gem of a short play, packed with so much subtext that you won't believe it's only one minute long. A beautiful treatise on high school friendship, secrets, sexual identity, and proms. I would love to see this performed. Playwright Claudia Haas has written a charmer of a piece, and you'll only want to dance with her plays from now on after reading it.

  • Arianna Rose: My Hired Hand

All the feels for MY HIRED HAND. A beautiful monologue about bullying, disability, and seeing things from a different point of view. You'll be rooting for this child from the very first sentence. I wish this monologue was required viewing in every elementary school. Kudos to playwright Christopher Plumridge for writing with such sensitivity and compassion about artificial limbs.

  • Arianna Rose: What Baggage

That poor cat! Locked in the pantry while Evelyn and Virgil do their thing. :-) You know it's a masterful play when you're concerned about a character you never even get to meet. WHAT BAGGAGE is a delightful two-hander about senior love-making and the realization that life-making is just as complicated as an elder, perhaps even more so due to all the baggage we bring. A tour-de-force for two mature actors, playwright Kim E. Ruyle has written a funny, poignant piece about co-habitating and co-mingling. I'm deeply intrigued by the rock room! Read and produce.

  • Arianna Rose: 11:11

For a short play, 11:11 is packed to the rafters with twists and turns, thought-provoking treatises on the state of humanity, knowing looks back and frightening looks forward. As someone who has been an 11:11 person all my adult life (look it up) I was drawn by the title but instantly stayed for Will and Sean. Playwright James Perry has crafted a masterful, tense tale that still has great moments of levity, including the perfect last line. Read it and produce, immediately. Before they take another trip.
