  • Christopher Soucy: Big Date

I was raised on B-horror flicks. John Busser has cracked the code on the rag of gigantic nuclear creature features and combines it with romcom for a hilarious send up of drive-in classics. I would actually love to see this produced as a short film!

  • Christopher Soucy: OUTCASTS AND REBELS (a 10 minute play)

We have more in common than not. Sometimes it feels like no one could possibly understand us, and then we connect with someone unexpected. Marj O’Neill—Butler weaves a captivating tale about the pain of isolation and the joy of being seen. Gram and Cassie are wonderful characters that deserve a life onstage.

  • Christopher Soucy: 10 Seconds Left on New Year's Eve: A Monologue

Like the beating of a broken heart. This play is a dissection of life. A distilled moment of reflection, familiarity, and perspective. A perfectly developed monologue that would do any actor good to have in their repertoire.

  • Christopher Soucy: Deeper

What happens when a meet cute might just be the end of it all? This is a great short with wonderful characters who embody a natural sense of awkward meetings, dark feelings, and the desperation of solitude. Funny and sad, wise and fresh, I enjoyed it immensely.

  • Christopher Soucy: I Knew Him

A strangely sweet take of lost sons and found passions. Something to muse about whenever watching scenes with specific props. A lovely take on the enduring love of art.

  • Christopher Soucy: What I Saw on Christmas Eve: A Monologue

Heart warming and heart breaking simultaneously. That is an impressive feat. I have enjoyed Cole Hunter Dzubak’s writing for some time now, and this piece is another bold evolution for him. Well done, Cole, and merry Christmas.

  • Christopher Soucy: DOUBLE-CROSS-DRESSING

So brilliant as to blind the reader. This is a fantastic short piece that delivers the Shakespearean goods. A pitch perfect recreation of the banter that the bard is celebrated for. A hearty hurrah to Monica Cross!

  • Christopher Soucy: Lazarillo de Tormes

My first introduction to Lazarillo de Tormes was a mention in Don Quixote. I was very excited to read this warm, beautifully crafted introduction to the title character presented with stirring passion by Melissa Schmitz. Schmitz paints a detailed landscape of the world inhabited by Lazarillo. I do hope to see more of the character and Schmitz’s writing in the future.

  • Christopher Soucy: Waiting On Mom, Who Already Left

John Busser has an incredible talent for creating three dimensional characters who quickly establish themselves and carry the story they tell with ease. This is a great short play that satisfies on its own while leaving you ready and excited for more. Always a pleasure reading John’s work.

  • Christopher Soucy: Conflagration Then Nothing

Horror. Sheer horror. It’s not ghosts, goblins, or masked maniacs, it’s that out in the stomach when you fear someone you love is in danger. Or worse, dead. Scott brings the thunder in this short piece of anxiety.
