I love all things Cryptid. It’s hard to create an onstage look at the fervor that surrounds urban legends. The Mothman is one of the best creatures to highlight because of its prophetic properties. Bravo to Cole Hunter Dzubak for crafting ng a captivating tale of mystery.

I am an unabashed lover of Shakespeare. I love any exploration behind the lines and action detailed to us in his works. Scott Sickles is a joy to read. Every play of his I’ve read is elaborately performed by a cast of players that reside forever in the repertory theater in my mind. FRAILTY, THY NAME gives us a peek behind the tapestries, not the safest place, but perhaps the best place to get the whole story.

I know all these people. Love all these people. Lost them as well. Ghost Light is a love letter to community theater and the wonderful people who dedicate themselves to it. it got me teary-eyed, but smiling all the same. If there is a heaven, I hope it includes a grand old theater and an Irish pub nearby for drinks after curtain call.

Thoroughly enjoyable! I had a cursory knowledge of the source material. It stuck out in my mind as a counter-culture Simpson-esque send-up. Jeremy Kareken has created an adaptation that feels every bit as frenetic as the art of the comics, but entirely at home onstage. It is a thankless task to translate comic book material into a natural feeling stage adaptation, and Kareken succeeds brilliantly!

Another amazing presentation of a historic philosopher from Marcia Eppich-Harris. Such an incredible deep dive into a man whose thoughts helped shape the modern world. But we know more about his thoughts, many of which were misappropriated, than the man. Eppich-Harris deftly balances the expectations with the humanity to deliver a triumphant, intimate story that challenges what we know and reinforces what we hope. I am certain this play is enthralling onstage because it is on the page.

The Stoic and the Mad Emperor. What a stellar play. A rich character study that inspires reflection. I had read this play some time ago and decided to let it cool off in my head before writing a recommendation. But truth be told, it just entered into my consciousness as the events in then life of one of my favorite philosophers. Marcia Eppich-Harris weaves a tale that reminds me of Seneca’s own words, “Life's like a play: it's not the length, but the excellence of the acting that matters.” The act of writing this play was an excellent act

That love could be outlawed should be a far fetched notion. But it feels like a terrible possibility scratching at the door. Scott Sickles has, yet again, deliver a pitch perfect, thought provoking work that will haunt me. His characters always find their way into my heart with ease and set up residence there.

This is my JAM! I have been an ardent fan of a Cyrano since I was 6 years old. I use to call him Sir Nose. I carried a battered copy of the play with me through the Middle East when I was in the army and read it everyday. I have written and rewritten sequels, prequels, midquels- and this play is darling! A gorgeous tribute to an exceptional play about unconventional lovers.

D’Aubigny had always been one of my favorite historical figures! Monica Cross does a fantastic job of telling the incredible story of a most incredible human being.
