  • Rachel Bublitz: VERTICAL CONSTELLATION WITH BOMB

A devastating short play about loss and grief, and what, if anything, comes from death and war. It was heartbreaking and beautiful to read off the page, I can only imagine how incredible it would be to watch staged.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Storm on Storm

A very sweet ten-minute. It's no wonder it's had productions all over, and that it's by a playwright who has literally written a book about writing ten-minute plays! I'm so impressed with the depth of character we get in the brief ten-minutes, Garrison packs in all the heart break, the love, the joy, the pain, all in an incredibly short amount of time.

  • Rachel Bublitz: THE MIRACLE OF THE CHUPPAH

THE MIRACLE OF THE CHUPPAH is a endearing and wonderful little play. It has so much humor and heart, such distinct characters, and a tenderness that got me teary eyed just from reading it off the page. Would LOVE to see this produced, it could be an excellent addition to an evening of shorts.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Bird Brains

BIRD BRAINS is clever and funny. I love the birds, especially the owls and their snooty feelings toward those human raised birds, and the humming bird and its big gulp. Kokai creates some vibrant characters and a intriguing world in a short amount of time. Well done, wish I'd seen the production!

  • Rachel Bublitz: How Are We Doing?

OH MY GOD! I have lived this conversation I don’t know how many times over the past nearly two years, and it gave me anxiety and stomach pains, but it also came around in the end and felt so cathartic. We need to be there for one another through this insanity and I think this play is an excellent example of that. I highly recommend HOW ARE WE DOING for reading and producing. Really well done.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Most Wonderful

A sweet ten-minute Christmas play highlighting friendship and how the holiday season isn’t the best time of year for everyone. I enjoyed the give and take and negotiations over food and how well developed the friendship is within the few pages of the play. Would be a great addition to any holiday night of shorts, especially one looking for something not too sentimental, but that still has a ton of heart.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Talk to Me About Home (a ten minute play)

Eugenie Carabatsos creates palpable intimacy with these two characters in the play’s brief pages. Reading it felt like a sort of coming home, a searching for something that might not exist anymore, but you have to look for it anyway because until now you didn’t realize how wonderful it was. I have friends like that, that I hold in my heart after years. This would be such a lovely play to see live. Lots for two actors to dig into.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Inosculation

Lyric and hypnotizing. INOSCULATION deconstructs trauma in devastating repetition, as neither half of the whole is able to move past whatever occurred at this bar. Siena Marilyn Ledger creates a world that I crave to know so much more about, but one where I fear most of the answers. Through this and the juxtaposition of violence and tenderness, she’s created an inside view of how we become blocked in the healing process. Totally mesmerizing and haunting.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Thrasher (10 minute excerpt of OFF THE PALISADES PARKWAY)

This play took me back to my late teens; that time when certainty and uncertainty in who you are and what you want are constantly butting heads against one another. Malakhow gives us two complex and wonderful characters that give themselves as many obstacles, if not more, than what they set up for one another. I thought the relationship and care between them was deftly handled. A really nice slice of life play.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Surprise (a ten minute play)

An adorable short play with lots of heart and laughs. And even with one of the characters as a psychic I was surprised and totally charmed by the ending. Really well done, would love to see it staged.
