There is so much life and love held in the few pages of GIRLFRIENDS. The dialogue is rich and detailed, there are many character details to mine from their words. Really lovely and well written.
  • My Cannibal Summer
    16 Oct. 2018
Fun, hilarious, campy, and a teeny-bit sweet. MY CANNIBAL SUMMER had just about a million laugh out loud moments during its production with Awesome Theatre in San Francisco. It energized the audience and had super exciting and silly fights. This would be a great play for colleges across the country. An excellent dark comedy about eating people, loving people, and eating the people you love. Read this! Produce this!
  • Dance Again: A Brief Choreopoem for the Brown Boys of Orlando
    26 Sep. 2018
A visceral and beautifully written short play. The language, the pace, it whips you to a night club, it makes you feel so much love and life, and then, suddenly and inescapably, it takes you to the shooting and the senseless loss of light. Rodriguez has crafted a haunting piece that should be seen everywhere because it lets you walk in another's shoes, and it forces you to feel both their pain and joy. That empathy and understanding is what we need a lot more of right now.
  • Egg Timer
    25 Sep. 2018
Who doesn’t love a play with anthropomorphic ovas? I can’t think of one person. EGG TIMER is so clever and funny, and even offers a few pearls of wisdom in the end. This would make such a great short to include in a festival, so much fun could be had with the different characters! I’m excited to check out more work by the playwright.
  • Date with Death

I love a good twisted dark comedy, and this short play delivers on the macabre. The choice to make all the characters have nonchalant attitudes about the murders is comedy gold as well. All around, a really solid short.
  • The Condemned, a Monologue
    25 Sep. 2018
Wow. This monologue grabs you in the first line and holds you through to the end. Boyle has a command of language throughout, it’s disturbing, totally relatable and entirely too believable. Really well done.
  • Bodies

BODIES is like an onion. The more you read, the more layers you find hidden. My expectations were defied again and again in the best kind of way. I found it both theatrical and lyrical, using language in beautiful juxtaposition. A thoughtful short play that would make an excellent addition to an evening of shorts.
  • Super Mythology Girl Tells a Scary Story
    22 Sep. 2018
SUPER MYTHOLOGY GIRL TELLS A SCARY STORY is delightful and disturbing and I want very much to see this alive on a stage. I love the mixing of language throughout the script, the use of sock puppets is totally genius, and Simon gives any actor a gift by letting them take on this all-encompassing role. Highly recommend reading and producing this play asap!
  • A Poison Squad of Whispering Women
    22 Sep. 2018
The depth of character and use of language in A POISON SQUAD OF WHISPERING WOMEN really knocked me off my feet. It's a historical play, that feels immediate and on the pulse of what's happening in our country right now. It's no surprise that this was a finalist for Playwright Foundation's festival this year, I hope that it finds more development and production opportunities. Really well done.
  • Buried

This play hits you like a ton of bricks. Webb manages to wrench at this awful situation with humor and sibling connection, making it all the more devastating to read. BURIED would put an entire audience in tears. I especially enjoy how much is left in between the lines for us to discover, it's clear that Webb trusts both her actors and her audience, and it's really payed off. All in all, a great ten-minute play.
