  • Rachel Bublitz: Mercy Killing

This play is super fun and hilarious, with some great roles for actors to get excited about. I mean how often do ladies get to play a grim reaper or a serial killer? Answer, not enough.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Ernie Evan

A funny and boisterous monologue that would be a blast for an actor to sink their teeth into. ERNIE EVAN is well paced, dynamic, and builds a huge and specific world in just around ten minutes. Gartner definitely had my imagination going with this one!

  • Rachel Bublitz: form of a girl unknown

A beautiful exploration of that awful year/time when we're 12. Amali is a brilliant, complex, and engaging almost teen that is such an honest and well written character. She knows exactly what she wants, and what she's doing, except for when she doesn't. Which is all the time and never. And Simpson pays the same level of care with her other characters, making Amali's relationship with her best friend, Finn, especially wonderful. FORM OF A GIRL UNKNOWN made me hopeful for the stories we tell about women and girls. I want more plays that aren't afraid to mention mensuration!

  • Rachel Bublitz: To The Grind

This play is funny, sexy, visceral, and horrifying. We're lead through a series of sexual relationships juxtaposed against a voice class, that creates wonderful ground for tension and relief. And while I laughed out loud several times, the end had me in tears. I love the sexuality of TO THE GRIND, how Cabral paints pictures of bodies speaking without words, and the engaging language throughout.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Act With 14 Words

What a wonderful succinct short. I love the tenderness and playfulness between the two characters, the actually doing things onstage that take time, and the power of movement in this piece. I'm really excited to dive in and read more work by Blaisdell.

  • Rachel Bublitz: RABIOSA: An Ode to Hurricane Maria

A powerhouse of a monologue! I was most struck with the magic of the piece, and the lyric nature of the language. The heart beating toward the end brought me to tears. All and all, a great piece for an actor to sink their teeth into, and to move an audience with. Well done!

  • Rachel Bublitz: INCREDIBLY CUTE

This is so fun! INCREDIBLY CUTE gives voice to the devices we use everyday, and Carnes doesn't hold back with what it has to say. I laughed and I cringed! I'd love to see this produced in a theater near me!

  • Rachel Bublitz: I'm Having the Worst Day

There are so many delicious details to dive into Hageman's I'M HAVING THE WORST DAY. The imagery of the gum, the desperation surrounding life and death, the brutal honesty of Danielle's life and expectations for the future, but there's also some really lovely humor, which creates a rich and complex monologue ready for an actor to pick up and run with. I had tears in my eyes from reading it on my computer.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Emily Dickinson Talks to God, Now (A Monologue)

EMILY DICKINSON TALKS TO GOD, NOW has a easy and beautiful moments of discovery scattered throughout it, that any actor would be excited to jump into and explore. Lawing has us looking both through history and into ourselves at the present, particularly at those lessons it takes most people a lifetime to understand that a few are just born knowing. Lovely writing, really well done.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Something Profound

Really had a great time reading this rule bending/breaking ten-minute play about creativity and craft. SOMETHING PROFOUND is hilarious, and offers a bit of a secret look at what all of us playwrights really want: to be brilliant without any questions asked. Hageman creates a great piece for theatrical playing from a director and a group of actors. This would be a ton of fun to stage.
