The language and characters are to die for in this hilarious ten-minute play. I love the level of dedication they have to their task, and how that dedication (and insanity) is carried throughout the piece. This would make a wonderful and funny addition to any night of short works, Martin has a terrific play here.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Mother's Milk

In this short piece Diaz-Marcano dives straight into the struggle of people who've lost their home, possibly forever, and how much they're willing to give for a new one. I found the twists and turns so painful, it made me think back to all the ways the rich and powerful have exploited those in need, and how that will continue to play out without any real support for the people who've had the misfortune to be born in the wrong place at the wrong time.

  • Rachel Bublitz: POP POP WAS A WAR HERO

Femia's characters are always so refreshing, she has a way of making them honest and hilarious and heartbreaking all at once. I relate so strongly with POP POP WAS A WAR HERO, how we forget parts of the past in order to live with it, what we do and don't tell our children, and how dangerous stuff can be. This is a fantastic ten-minute, highly recommend reading and producing it - especially produce this if you're near me so I can come see it.

  • Rachel Bublitz: El Yunque in English

A rich and engaging one-person play. Diaz-Marcano creates such a complex and lovable character in EL YUNQUE IN ENGLISH, I wanted more than anything for Pedro to get everything that he wanted. It's funny and emotionally moving, without ever becoming too sentimental, while also addressing the huge catastrophe the American government continues to ignore in Puerto Rico. I'd love to see this short performed across the country.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Singing to the Brine Shrimp

This is such a hilarious and zany play! I love the Brine Shrimp and the music used throughout. It's highly theatrical, with painfully realistic characters and situations. Kokai has zeroed in on a playwright's worst nightmare with SINGING TO THE BRINE SHRIMP, and I cringed and laughed all the way through. I am really excited to see this play developed further.

  • Rachel Bublitz: You're a Good One (aka Janine)

A fantastic example of how dramatic, engaging, and vibrant documentary theater can be. I've seen this performed live, it was highly impactful on me and the audience. It's a piece that forces you to experience the life of another and to walk in their shoes. Highly recommend.

  • Rachel Bublitz: McIntosh

Love the actor dedication showcased in the characters of this play. I laughed about a million times in these two brief pages, Hayet has a way with quick and clever dialogue.

  • Rachel Bublitz: COMPLIMENTARY WIFI

COMPLIMENTARY WIFI is hilarious and waaaaaaaaay too real. It touches on this age of access, or need to connect with people, and all the barriers we put up to make that harder, because we're complicated silly animals. It also shows how awful/wonderful marriage is. Would be a great addition to a night of shorts.

  • Rachel Bublitz: NEWTOWN/LANTANA

Highly theatrical and totally sobering. Carnes has created a powerful short play that speaks volumes to this nation's gun problems.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Melto Man and Lady Mantis

I want SO BADLY to see this play produced! I love so much about it, the typical office setting turned completely on its head with the outrageous characters, the interjections of tax business throughout the talk of evil destruction, the sly implication at the deregulations this current administration supports... Pfeffinger is on fire in this script!
