  • Emily McClain: EXHALE

I had the priviledge of hearing this play read aloud and it contains such an intense emotional impact compressed into a few brief pages. We NEED to see men nurturing each other on stage and in life. This play celebrates men sharing tenderness, vulnerability, and emotional honesty.

Our core humanity is at stake if we don't get better at encouraging these qualities and this play, and the worldview it portrays, is a step in the right direction. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

  • Emily McClain: Love and Gratitude

I will never forget the feeling of gruesome glee that washed over me as the opening image of this fantastic play appeared. It’s grotesque and macabre and somehow also tender and romantic. It’s everything you want in a holiday play, in my opinion. Long live Pop’n Fresh!

  • Emily McClain: THE SALT-FILLED PATH

Cross creates a completely enchanting tale, with charming and surprising verse dialogue. It’s an impressive, salty confection that delights as only a giant slug play can. ❤️

  • Emily McClain: The Language Bear

Creepy children, ominous and threatening "imaginary" friends, and a father who could use a lesson from the Language Bear-- this play is a wonderful use of some familiar elements but with a CRAZY twist. Plummer keeps you guessing until the very end, but it's so satisfying! Also, this play would be an excellent piece of digital theatre, and such a brilliant challenge for an actor!

  • Emily McClain: ... IN REFRIGERATORS

This play is so satisfying! Cross offers a wonderful vindication for every half-hearted, crappy excuse for poorly developed female characters we've ALL heard. Combining some of the best aspects of psychological thrillers and horror tropes, Cross creates something entirely new and fun. Read this play!

  • Emily McClain: The Olfactory Soul

Using the power of scent to entice her victims into revealing their innermost secrets, the perfurmer bewitches with eerrie, powerful glamour. Surprisingly complex ideas are unpacked in this short play! Excellent work!

  • Emily McClain: Goldfish

This is part-morality tale and part-contemporary twist on the revenge story. It is 100% entertainment, with a hugely satistfying payoff. The creep factor is HIGH but the character voices are distinct and would be a supreme treat for actors. This would be an awesome short film or digital theatre adaptation as well. GREAT WORK!

  • Emily McClain: Earth People (a one-minute play)

Haunting and emotionally resonant but with such warmth and charm. Weaver creates a deeply moving exchange in two pages that will stick with me for a long time. Thank you for this beautiful play!

  • Emily McClain: Barbarian

This genre-piece is an absolute thrill-ride. Prillaman builds a world that is intense but with subtle character interactions that leave you wanting more. Why haven't Vikings and vampires ALWAYS been a thing? Read this play!

  • Emily McClain: ANTAGONISM, OR, SOME PEOPLE LIKE TO P*SS IN THE POOL [A 1-MINUTE PLAY]

I was so charmed by the visual elements of this short play, but even more than that, I was struck by the message that while you can't control how others behave, you are ultimately in control of how you let their attitude shape your experiences and worldview. As for me and my house, we're gonna keep reinflating the balloon. Wonderful work!
