  • Asher Wyndham: EYE CONTACT

This feminist retelling of one of the greatest clashes in literature - Perseus vs. Medusa - is perfect for our #metoo era. It challenges - and satirizes - social and historical concepts of heroism, gender roles and relations - and it's wickedly smart.
One of the best spoofs on Greek myths that I've read.
If you're considering a festival inspired by myths and fables, consider this. It's comedy gold.

  • Asher Wyndham: Everything But Dead

One of the most intense short plays I've read on NPX.
Every word, every line escalates the emotional story.
This playwright here achieves a level of intensity and multiple characterization that I haven't read before in a short play in a long time.
    Just wow.
Directors and actors, you have a lot to work with.

  • Asher Wyndham: The Home for Retired Canadian Girlfriends

Everything about this -- the zany story, the never-seen-before characters -- makes for a clever play. A highly imaginative short play with perfect structure. This is so good, this is kind of comedy entertainment your theatre needs for your showcase.
One of my favorite short comedies on NPX.

  • Asher Wyndham: Swallow

This short monogue is a fine example of theatre for social change, bringing awareness to a topic that needs to see the light on stage -- eating disorders.
It's raw poetry that creates a haunting voice that you can't ignore or forget.

  • Asher Wyndham: The Mr. Rogers Dildo Club

This funny play celebrates gay kink and explores a side of gay sexuality unlike most gay plays.
Bravo. If you're producing Queer plays in a bar setting, check this out.

  • Asher Wyndham: 20 Verses

I had the pleasure of seeing this play read at the William Inge Festival in 2019.
This was definitely one of the highlights of the play readings.
Immediately compelling and shocking as a tightly-structured play exposing hypocrisy and abuse and evil in a religious institution.
I look forward to reading more of Lynch's work!

  • Asher Wyndham: The Fallout

This domestic dramedy taking place during the Cuban Missile Crisis, imagining an inevitable nuclear attack, an alternative 1962, will make you ask - Who would you not want to take shelter with underground? Spouse, a certain friend? An uncertain future begs the question.
This play would keep you audience in suspense and entertained.

  • Asher Wyndham: Whisper into the Ground

I agree with everything the previous playwrights have said.
I will add - Most playwrights would handle this play's subjects realistically. Not Haller. She goes deep emotionally, creating an imaginative place for the living and the dead, for mystery, poetry, grief, and empathy.
Theatricality is actually quite rare, I think, in theatre - so let's give attention to playwrights like Haller.
This is the kind of the theatre that directors and designers love!

  • Asher Wyndham: Down Deer

It was a pleasure to hear a reading of this play at the Midwest Dramatists Conference in KS.
We need more plays like this one - that capture through language a sense of region.
Digs deep while confronting a tough topic.

  • Asher Wyndham: Round the Decay

This snapshot of a drug addict and his cousin is heartbreaking. A believable situation of desperation and crisis on the street that elicits more than empathy - it can make you angry. Angry at the f'ing systems - medical, political, social - that makes it so easy for someone with mental health and drug addiction to fall through the cracks in the US.
    Incredible dialog!
