  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: Ugly Doctor Hospital

Just had the privilege of being a part of a Zoom reading of this piece, complete with sound effects! This play is so meta and so funny! Busser's script is proof that actors don't need to be seen if the writing is this strong! I admit, I was one of those unsure about "audio dramas" and how well they would play. I am now a convert and want to "hear" more! Especially from this playwright!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: Good Morning

What a rollercoaster ride of a morning for poor Shelly. Thrust into circumstances that weren't even her fault, yet she is the one who continues to pay the price. You really feel for her, but you also understand why her family had to make the choices they did as 16 years flew by. There is so much in this short play, and it is such an intriguing subject, I would love to see more from these characters. That is the sign of a good story!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: Wildfires

You feel like you really know Ben and Will and the easy, natural way they talk with each other. About the wildfires in the world...and the wildfires in their lives. A truly rich and real moment in a pair of brothers lives, in ten tight pages. The dialogue is easy, but the meat of it is thick and actors would definitely love to chew their way through this!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: A Simple Game with Death

The characterization of Death in this play is interesting, because it comes with an attractive human face, but remains absolutely terrifying. Charles is a father many of us know in real life...or perhaps many of us are. The cat and mouse between the two is tension filled and I found myself taking notes, in case I ever have to face off with Death in the same manner. Very clever.

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: A ROOM WITH A BIT OF MAGIC (a monologue)

Such a relatable piece. The right costume design/execution can do wonders to put us into character. But beyond that, it can also do wonders for the actor themselves. Costumers deserve a lot of kudos for the magic they work. But this isn't all that this is about. This poor girl is feeling beautiful, maybe for the first time in her life, because she isn't what...even her mother...believes is "traditionally beautiful." Maybe mother didn't mean it that way. But words matter and live on for a long time. Hopefully the memory of this dress will live on longer.

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: LEAVING A HOLE - 5-minute monologue

A poetically written monologue about grief and the emptiness it leaves. With grief being such an intangible feeling, even though we can all relate, Arianna Rose uses the comparison of a pulled tooth to mirror the pain and the eventual empty hole left in the soul. Beautiful and tragic at the same time.

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: Unforeseen Harmony, A One-Page Play

This is a slice of naughty life with a surprising twist at the end!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: A Day in the Life of a Former Zombie

Wow. There is so much to unpack in this 10 min play. So much to think about, because trauma is real. And movies are not. But the people who are IN the movies are real. And even though you know it is fiction, sometimes it is hard to separate the performer from the trauma in your own past. I think I will be pondering this story for a very long time. No one is right or wrong in this scenario. It is all difficult and real. Bravo on a very well crafted story about difficult issues.

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING

This play has a beautiful sadness to it. Humans want so desperately to control their own destiny. Individually and humanity as a whole. But there is a bravery and actually a little intelligence to just leaving it to nature. To chance. Because that is the way magic and life collide. And that is exactly how Dell and Cindi will continue on. Somewhere where magic and life collides. Beautiful.

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: The Biters

A night of firsts for Kurt could be his last if he doesn't trust his instincts...and follow his heart. Whether it's beating or not. The vampire twist to this "one-night stand" story brings the stakes(pun intended) higher, for both characters. After all, who wants to spend 88 years just hopping from one neck to the other? It's nice to actually have someone to connect with, too.
