  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Dark Twist

I wanted to read this one before it was published, and I'm so glad I got my act together and did. A play about how what happens to us when we're young shapes our lives - both for good and for bad - Dark Twist will take you back to how it felt to be a teenager, trying to figure out who you are, what the world is, and how best to survive within it. It's a wonderful drama full of twists, surprises, and haunting memories. Philip Middleton Williams knocked it out of the park again.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: ABIGAIL

YES. Oh my gosh, YES. This is the story of a Hollywood director whose career has taken a #metoo hit, and who is now directing "The Crucible" on Broadway. When the young woman cast as Abigail begins researching her role, she notices the misogyny that went into its creation in the 1950s and the misogyny still present in the situation she finds herself in today. I could not love this play more. Sarah Tuft has a new fan.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: What A Friend We Have In Satan: A Monologue

Well, this is perfect. This short, one-person play is absolutely delicious from start to finish. Satan makes a compelling argument, and you just might leave converted.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: The Time Travelers

A short, site-specific play about time travel which involves the audience - what's not to love? This play is fast and fun. You can definitely feel the panic in these two characters. Even though you don't quite know what The Catalyst is, you know these time travelers are trying to prevent something bad from happening again, and half the fun is picking up clues from their dialogue. A quick and wild ride!

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Women of the World

This short play is hilarious! Three girlfriends move into their first grownup apartment together, celebrate their adult independence, and immediately find themselves in a situation illustrating that they're not quite grown ups yet. This is one of those plays with so much physical comedy that I wish I could see it live, because I just know it would be hysterical. A thoroughly enjoyable play with a perfect ending!

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: LEAVING HOME (a 10 minute play)

Oh my gosh, I love this play. This sweet short is about a couple who have just lost what they thought was going to be their forever home to foreclosure. It's a beautiful testament to resiliency and a lovely study on finding good within the bad and managing to continue to dance, despite it all. I really, really enjoyed it. Bittersweet and beautiful.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Remember Me?

This beautiful monologue reminds us that life can change in an instant - for better, or, in this case, for worse. The physical and/or emotional scars left behind are blessings in their own way, reminding us how lucky we are. Philip Middleton Williams vividly captures one such experience, and in the process reminds us all to count our blessings - even the blessings that we don’t always think of that way. Especially those blessings.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Eleanor Roosevelt's Pudding

Eleanor Roosevelt is finally living for herself, and it's fantastic. She's back from the dead, teaching us all how to make her famous First Nations Pudding, and her running commentary as she cooks is perfect. I'm not one for baking shows, but I would watch a thousand episodes of this.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Spider Girl

This monologue is wonderful. Dorothy is talking to someone she's on a first date with, explaining her very passionate love of tarantulas (because it's best to get that kind of thing out in the open as quickly as possible, in case it's a deal breaker.) I'm no fan of spiders, but Dorothy is so persuasive that I could feel myself being won over to her way of thinking. (Also, I totally looked that Nicole Kidman video up on YouTube when I finished reading this.) So charming!

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: An Interview with a George

This short Zoom play is so sweet, and such a perfect encapsulation of the many things people have been dealing with emotionally since the pandemic started. It's a lovely reminder that we can still touch each other, even when we have to be apart.
