Oooh I really enjoyed this short play! It's a ghost story - but sweet. A ghost-hunting couple discuss ghosts they've seen, what makes some people wander forever after they die, and what they hope for each other after death. I love the natural dialogue, and I love the conclusions these characters reach.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Drill

This one-minute play about how active shooter drills have become a routine part of school life is powerful and infuriating. It says so much with so little - the mark of a successful one-minute play.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: God Chooses Arkansas

This short play about the lengths some sports fans will go to see their team win is hilarious. The stakes raise steadily (and entertainingly) right up to the last second of the game. What a great play for comedic actors to go wild with.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Plainclothes

Plainclothes is such a fabulous play! It deals with racial profiling and the us vs them mentality while at the same time being hugely entertaining and often hilarious. The characters are rich and the kind of roles actors dream of. I really love how Plainclothes handles so many big issues without ever feeling preachy. This play is great.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Stay Awhile

This short play is a sweet, sad exploration of grief and how difficult it is to say goodbye. In only ten pages, Dana Hall creates an entire world with many specific details of this family's past and present. What a lovely play about how difficult it is to lose a life partner, and how equally difficult it is to watch someone you love grieve that loss in an unreachable place.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Glint

When I started reading this short play about demonic possession, I didn't think my reaction at the end was going to be, "Well, that was adorable," but here we are. What a sweet short play! Scott Sickles is terrific.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Clyt; or, The Bathtub Play

This play is gorgeous. Such a beautiful study on motherhood and sibling rivalry and marriage and loss, all through the lens of a well-known Ancient Greek story, updated with modern elements, like phones and malls. I want so desperately to see this staged.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: The Misfit Mantra

My sister has written many short plays, but whenever I'm asked to recommend one, this is always the one I pick. You should definitely take 10 minutes and read it.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Cinnamon Raisin

When a play begins with someone digging a hole in the middle of the night and the first line is, "I'm not burying a body," you know you're in for a good time. This short play deals with big issues - depression, isolation, disillusionment - in a very funny way. This would be a stand out play in any short play festival.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Next Door

This dark comedy is fantastic. Brenda's next door neighbors abused their children for years, and her female friends all begin showing up at her house to comfort her. The play unfolds with some of the smartest, funniest dialogue you'll find as they debate things like How could Brenda possibly have not known? and What even IS feminism? This play reached the point where I truly didn't know what to expect next, and I loved every minute of it.
