  • ERSTWHILE by Paul Braverman is a beautifully written monologue. The honest and raw emotion presented is quite powerful. Thank you to the playwright for sharing.

  • Nope! ERSTWHILE by Christopher Soucy is creeeeeepy AF. Highly recommend for any horror play fest.

  • Now this is a Hallmark holiday story I can sink my teeth into (like a tire, if you will...). ERSTWHILE by Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend is such a smartly stupid - or stupidly smart? - hilarious two-hander with some incredible and unexpected twists and turns.

  • Not since Sartre's NO EXIT has there been such a dystopic play about characters stuck in a liminal space for all eternity. If this play is ever performed somewhere (outside of PT), (a) what is wrong with that theatre, and (b) I expect Busser to personally invite every member included to opening night!

  • 04/02/2025. Oh boy, does Sam Heyman take audiences/readers on a journey with MANES BEFORE DAMES. I went in thinking this would be a cute and silly skit about anthropomorphic animals, and it is oh so much more than that. It is a beautiful story with honest and sincere characters. And also, bonus that the lioness is a total bad@ss!

  • David Lipschutz: Ghost of Shabbos Past

01/16/2025. GHOST OF SHABBOS PAST is a moving and funny and heartwarming play about a Jewish man and his ghost Zayde. You'll feel a spectrum of emotion reading/watching this one. "You think I've got a Christmas Ghost budget?" had me cackling. Beautiful work by Sam Heyman.

  • David Lipschutz: Olly Olly Oxen Free

11/29/2024. Holy cow! OLLY OLLY OXEN FREE is how you do horror on stage. Playwright Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn really has a knack for how to build tension. What begins as a fairly innocent game of tag turns sinister at epic proportions. I caught this with Bump In The Night Theatre's Jump Scares festival, where I was sitting in the back row, biting away my nails in fear and anticipation!

  • David Lipschutz: Barbarian

11/29/2024. BARBARIAN packs a huge punch in such a short window of time. Daniel Prillaman has created a deeply intricate and gory world (something I don't think I've ever seen or read in a ten-minute play). I was lucky enough to catch a production of it with Bump In The Night Theatre's Jump Scares festival.

  • David Lipschutz: A Lot of Time to Think

11/29/2024. Can a play give you claustrophobia? Turns out it can! A LOT OF TIME TO THINK is an impeccably written psychological thriller by Cole Hunter Dzubak. I had the joy of being a terrified audience member seeing this play at Bump In The Night Theatre's Jump Scares festival.

  • David Lipschutz: My Kind Of Christmas

11/29/2024. To say that I had the pleasure of seeing MY KIND OF CHRISTMAS with Palos Village Players would be an understatement. This wonderful play by Dana Hall is heartwarming and funny, and it is destined to become a holiday classic.
